    Drop Shot Hair Fly

Nice one. Where do you buy Punisher Lures Fish Dope or KVD Fish Stix?
  3. NCSUBVET Could a two half mold be used? This way the rear of the mold would be cast as a finished shape to eliminate a process step? In addition the head could also be molded close to the finished shape to reduce turning time.
  4. Wow you are getting stocked up. How long will it take to use them up before you need to get more? Do you ever buy whole hides/skins?
  5. I don't have fur for zonkers, but I need to get some. Check out this link that shows palmering it. http://steelheadalleyflytying.blogspot.com/2013/09/matt-zudwegs-flux-capacitor.html?m=1 I think all you would need for a killer streamer would be one zonker strip. One Zonker for the tail and palmered head. Add some flash and 3d eyes and call it done.
  6. Wow Saltydog that looks great!
  7. Great day for dying. What patterns are you planning on tying with the furs?
  8. Thanks for the info NCSUBVET. By the way gorgeous work!

    resin

Just looked up East Coast Resin. For all practicle purposes it's the same as Etex. The most important difference I see is Etex is 50 % off with an AC Moore coupon.
  10. Very precise.... and best of all he still has all his fingers!
  11. 21xdc could an entire jig mold be made with this stuff & be used to mold lead?
  12. You have some great skills. What resin will you use for the finished product? I will be sure to keep tuned in for updates along your journey.
  13. I agree with Apdriver to run colder while still getting full paint coverage. Tip For Baking: Cut a paper clip and form it to be an S shape. Hang jig thu the eye with the modified paper clip. Next place a 3\8 or 1\2" nut on the hook to keep the jig more verticle. This set up prevents excess paint from running into the eye or making a cone head. What you get is a perfect head every time.
  14. Wow way to go you got some nice furs.

    Citrus

    Thanks, great job.
  16. Those are some real nice feathers. Do you remove remaining dye residue? Rinse in cold water till water is clear then wash with soap and water. I have dyed a few tails and used this process. I remember purchasing some dyed tails and feathers and had dye residue come off flies tied with them when they were wet. I ended up washing them with soap and water and letting dry.

    automatic fisherman

Pretty ingenious. Sets hook and alerts angler all in 1. Can rod get pulled into the water?

Nice work. Do you use an air brush with createx paint?
  19. Patterned after Jack Gartside's Gurgler. Body is a strip cut from a flip flop. Floats well and more durable than the usual foam.
  20. Skimpy thanks for another great video, and for the rich content you bring to TU. I could see the hinge effect working with the swing jig. This caused the bait to move further away from verticle than the fixed jig. I imagine the swing jig would tend to articulate when fished with a twitching or jerking and paused retrive. Any thoughts to add a small diameter split ring between the hook and jig head to give more action? Too large of a diameter split ring can cause the hook to catch on the line.

    Square bill/prop bait

Are you making your own bodies? If so you do really good work
  22. Clean paint job. What kind of stencils do you use?
