  1. You need to encompass the entire lure for protection and durability otherwise water will find a way to get in under the epoxy. 1. Only handle with Nitrile gloves to eliminate any possibility of surface contamination. 2. Use 30 min epoxy to allow more time to be able to use it and for it to flow out. 3.Use a brush and put on a thin coating. 4.Put on a lure turner until dry. Instead of 30 min epoxy , a product I really like to use is Enviro Tex Lite from Michaels, AC Moore, or Amazon. (tip.50% Coupons can be used at craft stores) Check out SolarBaits (a member here) video on how to apply.
  2. Nice work. Fish can not resist underspins. What hook do you use?
  3. Tool is fast and neater.

Bigelures any updates on progress with your modified whopper stopper type lure?
  8. Foam Baitfish with Gills Body Shape: 3/16 industrial foam gills and baitfish profile are cut with a laser to match the hook Hook: EC 253 4/0 I have never been very good or fast at cutting these out but having a laser cut the shape makes short work of tying these up. Just need to put resin on, turn it and I can call it done.
  9. What is the advantage to soak them in alum?
  10. Dan I am sure with a little substitution the fish wouldn't even notice. Wings could be tied with a little synthetic yarn mixed with translucent mylar Head: Bead head Body: Black/yellow chenille Tail/Collar: Black hackle feather Just give a measurement for the hook and for the head. For that matter just take a picture of it against a ruler and it should be easy to tie.

    Musky Lure

Top shelf stuff...XCfranko, thanks for posting.
  12. Material: 1. Hard wood handle is salvaged from a broken rubber mallet. I knew I saved this for a reason. 2. 1/8 Hard stainless wire .o62 with loop. This was purchased but not used because it was too hard for a thru wire lure construction (cost .99C). Process: 1. 1/4" Counter bore 5/16" deep. 2. .0627 holes 2ea spaced as shown. 3. Cut handle to desired length. I cut mine to allow material to extend past my hand on both sides when held. 4. Insert SS wire and trim to fit mold; then smooth cut end. 5. Wire is held securely with friction. If wire is ever needed to be replaced just push out the old one and replace with a new one.
  13. Finished custom pull pin and molding egg sinkers. Parts: Hard wood handle salvaged from rubber mallet. Hard stainless wire .o62 with loop. Material Cost: 0.99C See Gallery link for more pictures. 15. This motor is the one I use for fly tying. 5 to 6 RPM is a perfect turning speed with enough torque to turn flies. https://m.ebay.com/itm/New-Stock-Synchronous-Synchron-Motor-50-60Hz-AC-110V-4W-5-6RPM-CCW-CW-J96J-/262352585850

Nice Mold is that your design? Do you mold in SS wire or sinker eyelets?
  17. I recall reading certain colors signified they were a better grade and suitable for production. Colors were Green, Red & Blue: Does anyone know which color was considered the best? Color coding is not done any more as they are all painted black.
  18. Cadman thanks for the info. I got a new old stock mold that didn't have a pull pin (thanks for size). These will not need to be painted but it's good info if I decide to use molds that do.
  19. Agree, stainless should keep it's shape and remain smooth. Didn't know to use oil, definitely cheaper than drop out. Thanks for the tip.
  20. Mold: Do-It EG-5-LA Egg Sinker I never used a pull pin before and need to make one for this mold that I just purchased. What is material of choice and size wire to use to make pull pins from? I plan on coating pin with drop out to prevent sticking in the mold.
