  1. Yeah, I frequently remelt baits especially those I made from scratch. I ha e found that the easiest baits to reuse are those made by Zoom and Bitters Baits. Some others either stink to high heaven or bubble really bad. I get a lot of used plastics from my buddies in my bass club and I just sort through it and use what I can and trash the rest. Some 2 color baits (laminates) if you can get enough to do anything with can make some very very nice solid colors.
  2. You won't be disappointed bamafan!
  3. I use LC chartreuse and it's pretty bright. I just use it for a transparent look but have added white to it before. Doesn't seem to bleed but I've only used it as tails on some darker colors.
  4. I have no idea. I tried them and I was not a fan. Many better beaver bait options if you ask me.
  5. There are exact copy molds on EBay. Both aluminum and some kind of other material. They are kind of expensive but that should be expected with all those thin ribs. They are from baitmold.com (the foreign company).
  6. I just use medium and it's got plenty of action on the 3" and 4" swimmers that I make. I wouldn't see the need to use a softer formula and they hold up pretty well to multiple fish when used on a jighead of some sort or used on a spinnerbait.
  7. Thanks man, the link you provided worked but for some reason clicking on the classified section on the main page just takes me back to the top of the main page. I don't know if it's because I'm on a mobile device or what but that's why I thought the classifieds were still down.
  8. The only thing I don't like about the Do-It frogs is they can't take a big enough hook. the Enforcer 4.5 frog holds the 6/0 Mustad hook I use easily and has the best action of any frog I've thrown. but If check out the Enforcer paddle foot frog if you like that style. I haven't personally used it but I love all my Enforcer molds and it should function well. it also has a fatter body and a full length hook slot to allow for a big hook as well.
  9. So still no classified adds yet? what's keeping that section of the site down for so long?
  10. Silver minnow had lots of extremely small silver glitter in it so I don't think it would give the desired effect. Just need to up the amount of plastisol used with one drop until he gets what he wants. That or just dip a toothpick in the dye and stick that in the plastisol to get less than a "drop" worth of colorant.
  11. Both pictures are the same color, just different molds. The bottom picture looks pretty good to me. Just think it's the rough finish of the mold distorting the color.

    Scents

Ask yourself this question....is it really worth the time and effort to save a few bucks on scent?
  13. Did they not shoot the mold before they sold it to you!? I'd I'd be a little upset about paying the kind of money a custom mold brings for one that dents.
  14. Very quick. Usually 2 weeks or less and your mold is on the way. Curt is very easy to get a hold of and if there is gonna be any delay he will communicate with you.
  15. I love my enforcer 8" ribbontail molds. They are thinner than say a culprit or a Berkley worm. More of the same thickness of a Zoom U-Tail.
  16. Should go away. Probably just aluminum dust from the milling process. I've had a few have that Dusty look but usually one or two shoots of the mold and it's all gone.
  17. Yeah, just get a cheap microwave off of Craigslist. If you're not willing to spend that little bit of money for a dedicated micro and Pyrex cups then just continue buying baits. This is a very expensive hobby. Don't think you are gonna save money making your own baits. It is much cheaper in reality to just find baits on sale or buy them off of Facebook auction sites for cheap.
  18. That foreign company baitmolds has the lake fork copy of ur interested.
  19. I do feel that a multicavity injection mold will make more uniform baits at least in my experience. The only hand pour I have is an 8" and it just takes so long to pour that it almost needs to somehow be stirred while you are pouring...havent quite figured out how to do that in my feeble mind yet haha. I did order some actual salt for bait making to try instead of table salt so I'm thinking that should help it suspend better. I do stir well in between each cavity. Most of my big sticks are pretty uniform until the last one...its like a brick.
  20. The softshell mudcrabs I use for sheepshead bait are also a lighter color and the legs are almost white in comparison to the hard shell crabs. Didn't really think about that until you mentioned it! So there may be visual and scent clues to let the fish know! Good conversation for sure!
  21. So you didn't have to wait but 3 weeks. Seems pretty reasonable.
  22. That's one thing I have often wondered about. Most things fish eat are NOT soft at all in comparison to soft plastic lures. By I would imagine that a softshell crawdad would be much more appealing to a fish although I have no idea how they would know this before striking the bait? I have noticed that softshell crabs get eaten almost immediately when sheepshead fishing even if you were getting no bites on regular crabs so there must be some way they can tell. Even fish are not soft and squishy like our lures. I dunno, good point to bring up man!
  23. Wowzers that is HIGH for a single cavity!
  24. It's not instant gratification to wanna know what the is up after somebody has your money for a month. That's also not wanting somebody to "hold your hand". There's a big time difference. Wanting a shipping update after 15mins is completely ridiculous....holding somebody's money for over a month and never even making an attempt to reply to their inquiries is equally ridiculous.
