I mostly use the do it x2 colorant. Don't take much to get a nice color to the baits.

Don't forget the saftey gear! Gloves, long sleeves, long pants, and closed toe shoes and eye protection. Gloves IMO are most important along with long sleeves. A respirator would bs good too unless you have really good ventilation. Also do as much reading as possible and be careful! Hope you get to catching fish on your baits soon!

One thing to also remember is if you make a bunch of tails and let them sit for even a day or two they will get a little oily on the surface and not make a good connection. If you do that just clip a little bit off the tail and you should be fine. It's either that or clean each one with alcohol and that doesn't sound like any fun. I usually just make enough for what I'm making that day.

I hear ya man and I totally agree. It's so much more dangerous than some people realize or want to believe. It really bothers me to see a video where someone (even unattended children) are doing this with no gloves much less any other saftey gear.

Well I wasn't complaining that they were to thick, just stating a fact. When using the BT dual injector if you don't pre heat the injectors and blending block the plastic will freeze up somewhere before you get anywhere close to 6oz of plastic shot on the first shoot(this is also a slower process i.e. can't inject as fast), after that they are fine but this is just my experience. Yes, I like the fact that the Do-It injectors heat AND cool faster, just something I prefer. I also never said the locking tip is a bad thing. The locking tip is almost a necessity when using the dual injector because unless you have big hands (which I don't) it's hard to solidly hold the end of both injectors. I have two each of the Do-It 4oz and Bass Tackle 3oz injectors and when shooting solid colors the BT injectors never get used. I just prefer it, I don't have to check and make sure the pin is properly secured, I know what I'm working with and it just simply isn't a problem or saftey issue if used properly. Wearing the proper saftey equipment is a much bigger deal that having a locking tip on the injector, that is just a fact. I understand I'm in the minority since I prefer the non locking tip for most applications. And obviously that makes me an idiot, uncaring about saftey, and lackadaisical about the hobby. I just was sharing my personal opinions on what I've experienced and my personal preferences so someone could hear an honest review of another option.

In your example, gloves and proper saftey equipment are your seatbelt. If you're wearing saftey equipment and not being dumb you will never have a problem with the Do-It injectors....and I'm plenty dumb so if I can do it safely surely anybody else can. If you're not wearing proper saftey equipment you are just begging for an injury to begin with.

Brush hogs!!

That's the big selling point for the other injectors and I just don't get it??? I have never once had it pop off and the Do-It injectors are much more fluid/smooth than my bass tackle ones. And I like that they will cool off quicker in between shoots. I dunno why anyone heats their injector prior to injecting anyways although I do heat when I'm dual injecting because those bass tackle injectors are a lot of metal to get warm. I haven't seen a need for heating my Do-It injectors yet in my bait making but I'm mostly just a hobbyist that sells some on the side so maybe I am missing something??

I would certainly say that blue and purple are important colors to have. I don't use my red, pink, or yellow hardly at all. But that all comes down to personal preferences, area fished, and species fished for.

Black, brown, watermelon, green pumpkin, white, and chartreuse. Q

If I'm just making single color baits I much prefer my Do-It injector. I like the non locking tip. It is much faster to deal with and I dont know why so many people have an issue shooting the end off into their plastic. Also the thin walls cool a lot faster than the thick walled bass tackle injectors which I feel like is a big plus.

Unless its a mold with a slide gate and two injection ports you are just gonna have to buy a tail mold for the bait you are making (many dont make a tail mold for most baits) or just shoot the whole bait in the "firetail" color clip the tails off, put them back in the mold, and shoot the body of the bait.

I don't put salt in anything, although I do use a sinking additive for my stick baits and sometimes in my centipedes. Any other bait I don't put salt in because I want them to float up or fall as slowly as possible on the bottom. Basically anything I fish weighted I don't salt. I have been thinking about adding some salt to my frogs to make them a little heavier so they will cast a little further.

I got mine from Bob's Tackle Shack. I have two of the four cavity molds and they produce great baits every time for me.

I love a brush hog and go through a lot of them during the year. Having said that I would recommend getting a 4 cavity cnc mold. I love mine and I can make them faster/more consistent with injection. I feel like I would never be able to get those little appendages to come out right. I do some hand pour worms for myself and that's ok but I'm not good at the little stuff. If you're really good at it then you could get quite a few more "cavities" buying the lurecraft molds.

I don't want to chat for hours about stuff, but if I contact a person/company through their website to ask if the measurements on a particular bait are in the mold or hanging I should GET A RESPONSE. An email is a very simple and quick thing to do. I'm not asking for an immediate response either, just an actual response within a week's time is more than reasonable. To simply not respond to customer emails is poor customer service, I don't care how anyone tries to spin it. Like I said earlier, I fully understand how hard these mold makers work but don't tell me that at some point in a week's time you can't take the time to respond to emails. I am also one that just appreciates honesty and if the molds will take two or three months to get to me so be it, just tell me and don't B.S. me (here's looking at you Del). Simply not responding tells the customer they aren't important enough to bother with and that is a very poor impression to leave with someone (whether that's the intention or not). I know to a lot of people a couple hundred dollars is nothing but to me it's a lot of money and if I'm gonna spend what little spare money I have I'd like to have some way to get in touch with the person/company I spent that money with. I don't feel like that's asking too much.

I had a similar issue, but I eventually got my molds but it did take about a month. It is frustrating because he used to be very easy to get a hold of but now it seems like he isn't even trying to return customer calls/messages. I fully understand these guys are busy but it is just poor customer service, no two ways about it. It takes very little time to send a short email. I mean as terrible as Del-mart is they at least have somebody to answer the phone/return emails even if all they do is BS you. It stinks because I have a lot of BTS molds and they are great molds but it worries me that at some point it's gonna be a multi month process just to get a mold. And without being able to get in touch with someone that can become frustrating for the customer. I'm not trying to bash anyone, because Bob certainly went above and beyond when I had an actual issue, I just hate seeing people spending hundreds of dollars with a company and not be able to talk to someone at said business about their order.

Al, I have certainly experienced a bad batch. One of the four 2.5 gallon boxes of do it essential plastisol I have purchased bubbled really really bad no matter what I did. The others I haven't had that issue with. So I feel like you can certainly get a bad batch of plastic. I just can't see any other reason why I could get such different results doing the exact same thing?????

I don't have much of a problem but about the only flake I put in black is Carolina blue and silver. Both seem to show up pretty well unless I add some HDA to make stick baits, then I just add a little more flake. With the HDA even adding flake it still doesn't show up the best but that's unfortunately one of the qualities of that sinking additive.

It's certainly addictive! It's already been said, but you will improve a lot really quickly. Figure out what works for you and do it, just remember saftey! This stuff can hurt you badly.

That's why I got it Mark! It was the closest thing I could find to the Zoom Horny Toad/Bitters Buzzn Gator. I have fished a LOT of different frogs and Enforcer is one of the best. It doesn't have the heft of those other two frogs but it's an excellent bait. Still casts fine for me and the action was exactly what I was looking for.
-
The enforcer frog is the truth!! Everybody else makes those damn paddle foot frogs which I don't like. Bass Tackle makes a buzz frog but it is nothing compared to the Enforcer frog.

Heat more slowly and monitor the temperature throughout. Stir very slowly as well.

Just as an avid wacky wormer, why not try to make some weedguards out of 30-40lb mono? Maybe a double or "v" shaped guard.
