  1. This has just been my personal observation, but stick baits are just the worst for producing jacked up baits. I have two 4" Bass Tackle stick bait molds and they are by far the most difficult molds I have. It is almost impossible for me to keep all the cavities from denting. It seems like at least one of the four baits in each mold will have a small dent in it. I have tried shooting at low temos, holding pressure and topping the sprue off multiple times. I have got all of them to come out right a couple times but it is an extreme rarity. I certainly don't have this problem with other molds. Its only the stick baits. I have a freedom fry mold and it is a big thick stick style bait with a tiny sprue and it shoots fine every time.
  2. His molds shoot better than any others I have. I don't have any swimmbait molds but I wouldn't be afraid to get one. I personally like the hex bolts better than wing nuts but that just comes down to personal preference.
  3. I mix the lurecraft coffee and upper hand coffee shad about half and.half on all my baits.
  4. Coffee shad doesn't have a bad smell at all. At least not in my opinion. It can get sticky if you over do it with the scent. I get it from Do-It.
  5. I have used the upper hand coffee shad and I really like it. I liked the coffee scent before and it's just what I have confidence in. Plus I absolutely hate baits that smell like garlic. Coffee is way easier on my nostrils haha!
  6. Just a wooden desk and a small fold our plastic table. I wouldn't be too fond of hot glass and a cold metal table. I have no problem with the plastic sticking to either surface.
  7. The swim ripper doesn't have that long of a tail. I have several of those molds and although similar it's not exactly the same.
  8. Bob has a craw worm mold but it's hand pour and somebody makes an injection mold. Looks very similar to the Gene Lawrew salt craw. That was a staple of fishermen when I was younger .
  9. I had sent him an email and a medssge through his site about the measurements on his minnow molds. I didn't get a reply but when I ordered I got my nolds like always. I don't know why he isn't returning emails or answering the phone anymore??
  10. Those look like the ones Bob's has. I know the 3" doesn't have a hook slot. I dunno about the 4" or 5" model. I can't remember if they are offered without a hook slot.
  11. You will be very happy with those molds man! Most versatile, fish cathinest bait I have in my box!
  12. I just got two molds from him and it took a little over three weeks. And I was unable to get in touch with him but the molds will come if ya order them. It seems that he may be approaching his maximum work load.
  13. I just bought the small bass tackle blending block and bought an extra injector from Do It because I already had one. It is VERY difficult to get both injectors to start at the same time and have continuous flow since the plungers and injector tubes aren't connected. I just use a piece of thick cardboard to press both plungers....it is less than ideal hahaha!
  14. I shot them once with a really crappy twin jector setup and it shot like all my other molds do with my setup. One bad bait one passable bait and two perfect. But That is just my twin jector. The molds should work fine with one of the Bass Tackle blending block systems.
  15. I know I mentioned it before but I feel like this lure would be great for an open pour mold. Then there would be no need to worry about sprue or gates or anything else. Just simply pour the plastic in and it's done. But being as big as it is it may be difficult to not get a concave top on the bait. Maybe somebody else with more experience pouring those big open pour swimbaits can chime in on that.
  16. Maybe I'm misunderstanding what happened but you need to get it to ~350 when using fresh plastic and then let it cool to 300ish to shoot it.
  17. I have athe couple BTS four cavity flippin hogs and they are great. Catch plenty of fish, as far as I'm concerned if I could only have one bait that would be it. Molds shoot flawlessly too.
  18. Do you oil the "thingy" or baits first? Seems like it might be tough to get them to slide neatly off the "thingy" if not? Very interesting idea!!
  19. I, for one, can't imagine not using gloves. Your hands are the only thing that allows us to be able to do this thing we love called fishing. Hands and fingers are soooooo important guys, keep them protected. I will never forget reading a thread in this forum where a guy basically melted his finger off and the moral to his story was to have a bucket of cold water nearby?????? Simply wearing a proper glove would have prevented the accident all together. On the stirrer thing, I used to use a butter knife but I started using a teaspoon (for an unknown reason) and it changed my life haha! Very good video, one day I will have a go pro so I can make videos! Thanks for sharing! I make only darker color stick baits so I just use the HDA stuff. I really like it, very durable baits and it seems to stay suspended well although if I'm not careful temperature wise, I get settling on one side of the bait. Which is not noticeable until you try to Texas rig it weightless and the damn thing wants to roll over on its side when sinking....but I basically never fish it that way so not a big deal for me (I don't sell stick baits because I don't have the time or clientele to make it worth messing with).
  20. Was it a Danny's Floating Worm? Or something like that? I know what style worm you are talking about and I haven't seen any molds like it for sale. Probably the closest would be some of the full round "treat worms" from bass tackle or BTS but they don't have the flat tail like that worm has.
  21. I know nothing about this but I have read there are some kinds of silicone you should not pour in. I will let somebody smarter than me chime in on the specifics.
  22. The stuff I got from Do-It doesnt seem to bleed. The stuff I got from lure craft bleeds when over heated.
  23. I dunno, I had heard he was turning to mold making full time and everything kinda went downhill after he added a few molds to his site. I haven't tried to get on the site in a while so I have no idea what's going on.
  24. I dunno if you wanna mess with it but that bait looks like a perfect candidate for an open pour mold. No worries then about ait becoming trapped. Just a thought, but I am no mold maker/designer. It just seems like that would rectify your problem and it would be a really easy pour wwith the lack of small parts.
  25. Nope, it clearly says 250 Fahrenheit.Hopefully Amazon is wrong if people are using it for melting plastic.
