  1. No, I'm not asking for a handout, however I am asking for some help picking out some lure blanks. I would like to mention that I don't have a lure business and I'm not trying to get my name out there or anything like that. I just like to help out when I can. My father in law introduced me to this really cool event for kids with cancer. They have a group of of bass fisherman with boats take about 30 kids out for a day of bass fishing. I was asked to set aside any lures that didn't turn out perfect and give those to the kids. I don't like that idea, plus all of my lures turn out perfect...hehehe. I want to give these kids some great lures that will catch fish. My question is, what would be some good blanks to use? I would prefer to hand carve them but due to constant wrist pains, I won't be able to get that many done by next summer. I was thinking Predator Bass Baits Griffon SR or the Baby -1. I'm covering the costs myself and don't have a whole lot of disposable income so I'm trying to keep this under $3 per lure (total cost, hooks, eyes, split rings etc.). Thank you and God bless! 2. I don't sit and think what pattern I'm about to paint. I usually think about that the night before while I'm in bed...or during the day at work.
  3. 10-20 minutes with clean up and color changes if I'm focused. Most of the time I'm not so it takes about a half hour.
  4. Nope, he's washing the McFly's cars.
  5. Some salmon do, Dave. Lake Michigan is full of salmon that go after Alewife. We troll behind the large schools of Alewife and fill our coolers.
  6. Excellent fish but I want to see the lure! I live and fish on the Mississippi so the only time I see clear water is when I'm drinking it from a bottle.
  7. Lurepartsonline has some big blanks. Haven't come across any others. Maybe wlure but I haven't heard many good things about them.
  8. Static electricity on the plastic pulling towards your hand?
  9. Thanks! I use concrete sealer in the garage with the door open in the summer but in the cold season, I'm stuck in the apartment. Garage isn't heated and it's a long cold 50 foot walk to and from the apartment. D2T has been my go to in the cold months but I'm looking for something I can dip and hang. Might give it a shot.
  10. How's the odor? It says low odor but is it low enough to use indoors? Like a one bedroom apartment.
  11. My personal favorite is the Berkley Havoc Pit Boss. Haven't found a bad color yet.

Good looking lure. I would move the spot up and shrink (or get rid of) the scale pattern. Again, good looking lure.
  13. Nice looking bait! You got the pink right but rainbows have some olive green on them. Get a picture of the fish you're trying to replicate and keep it ready for reference. As for small details, don't be afraid to bust out Sharpies, artist brushes, sponges, etc. Watch YouTube videos and see how the pros do it.
  14. Yeah, pics or it didn't happen.
  15. Excellent looking lures! I'm not sure but I don't think they're owned by a big company. I could be wrong, it's happened once before.
  16. Dick Nite's has storage issues but it is the closest to a factory finish. Skins over really fast. Search 'Tap the can' and you'll see how to use it properly. I've stuck with D2T and GST concrete sealer. D2T has given me the best results.
