  1. That would give me another reason for the Midwest jig mold. from what I have read is that you don’t really want to let them hit bottom. Either twitch or glide through the water Column.
  2. Mustads are good hooks. I use them for my Arkie and poison mold. I havnt found a reason to switch yet. Eagle claws would probably work in this application too
  3. I have not been on here in a while. But, since I be been on I have added a Arkie mold and poison tail mold. I like both molds very much btw any how I’m looking to get educated in bass Maribou jigs. I’d like to extend my bass fishing into the late fall untill ice locks everything up around here. Im assuming that a smaller jig that is capable of having a bigger hook is what is in order? Like a 1/16 jig with a #2-2/0 hook? Or do you not want a big hook? From what I’ve read this is a do nothing technique where you let it fall through the water column once it just hit bottoms just real it straight BACK. do people add a trailer or just fish them as is ? I’m assuming basic basic bass colors work black/blue, green pumpkin, white are the colors?
  4. I’ve had the lee ladle for almost 8 years now. Only way you can prevent rust as was stated above is to leave led in it. To get rid of the rust I usually just turn it on get it hot and than take the spoon that use for slag removable and just scrape it out into the bottom. Than I just empty it into my metal Coffe can of wheel weight clips and slag. You could scrape it cold also.
  5. No sense in starting a new thread. the snootiest jig and poison could also double for a swim jig or swim bait mold? I’m kinda looking for a mold to possibly make all three. I have been making chatter baits with a arkie 2hich, works fine. However, the bigger arkies seem like they want raise up and plane when retrieved. Don’t worry I use split rings haha
  6. those are cool. good job
  7. any body have a picture of these?
  8. I only use spinning reels and they all have Trilene XT spooled on them. not a big fan of stren just seems really stiff to me
  9. what about if i found a cheap rod at a garage sale to practice tying the guides. i could either take the original guides off or just by some cheap guides and tie in between the guides that are on there already
  10. I can wrap the guides and un- wrap them as many times as i want untill i epoxy the threads correct?
  11. yeah i think the rod dryer would be important. because to me if it dosen't dry right or the epoxy runs its all been for not. I just want a good rod for river small mouths and want to try building. nothing fancy just all black rod with black thread and cork ha handle. St Croix makes a 7ft ml/l action with fast tip and has the rod i want to try and immulate. the St. croix rod is basically the same price as the kit i wanna get from Janns. i just want to build it
  12. what do you mean by skirting the jig? isnt that what the plastic attached to the jig is?
  13. Lee hot pot 2. I have one and love it. But, I just make stuff for myself. its simple to use and its basically maintance free. I can cast 3oz egg sinkers to 1/34 steel head jigs with it. Also use it for melting down scrap lead.
  14. Withing the next month i will be purchasing my first rod building kit. Have been wanting to for a couple of years. I am spending about 100 dollars on the kit. is it neccessary to buy all the special tools like wrapper and the rod dryer. I know i have read where thread epoxy can be dryed by just by turning the rod every 15 mins. What tools would be essential? I mean i dont plan on building a lot of rods maybe one a year. I guess what would be the bare essentials?
  15. I like it. i dont drop shot but, if I would use it.
  16. where do you get the paca craws from. Janns net craft?
  17. thanks for the info on the craws. there are so many out there. I will try the paca craw. theres a assortmant of craws that they sell in Wall Mart in a big plastic plano box for like 12 dollars. i think strike King or somebody similar makes them ever had any expiernce with them. they look intresting
  18. i didnt think that it did i just didnt want to make a mistake with only a limited number of both. Do you tie hair on your football jigs? Thanks

    Jig Color

I dont really know where to put this question but, since I hang out on jig forum the most, ill post it here. I bought one package of unpainted 4/0 stand up football jigs and owner shakey head jigs from barlows. I bought them really just to fill out a small order so i didnt get charged the small order fee. I ve never used them before to fish but always wanted too. I dont know what color. I painted two of each black and Green pumkin. Should you try and match the color of the worm or plastic that you are useing? or is black and green pumkin a good color. what kind of plastic do you throw on these suckers. consensus on the internet seems to be senko type worms. how about a craw fish? thanks to archer1 i have plenty of soft plastic
  21. I guess i dont realyknow what a form 637 im going to go google it and pobally have more questions
  22. this is a dumb question but, how does one go about getting a form 637? By getting a DBA is that considered your tax # through the state?
  23. wow, thanks cadman that box is preatty impressive. Best way i have found ever messing around with it for the last day is to go into the bathroom, put lures on the sink andturn off the lights. This way the flash wont show up in the photo. It comes out nice and clear but not all the details show up. when I get time ill have to built that box. I cant get the photo to load because it is to big. I think we probally have the same cannon camera well, when i bought it 5 years go it was around 100 bucks.
  24. Just wondering what every bodies oppion is on this. I been trying to figure out a eye pleasing way of taking a picture of my lures to post on the web. Obvious considerations would be lighting, making sure clutter is out of the picture, and keeping the flash out of the back ground. I was thinking of taking a old shoe box and putting black constrion paper in the back ground so it really make the lure stand out. But, I dont know if i can enough light in to the box or keep the camera from flashing and having it show up in the back gound. what do you guys do?
