  1. I am still open to ideas mark , trying to weigh up best options, so thanks. Hope to have small sled designed and built 4-5 hours from now, then onto jig after that ...?.glider
  2. Thanks travis, definitely using sled. Not decided best option for holding blank ,was thinking of incorporating into back block on sketch, or maybe rear sled fence ?....glider
  3. Travis,1st thanks for input, if I understand correctly ,do you mean using 2 stops as opposed to having angled block adjustable? So in other words still using angled block but just to hold angle, then use front stop for pass 1 and back stop for pass 2 ? Hard to visualise some of these ideas including musky glens but I think I get both. I want to get underway today, so would you agree that building a crosscut sled is a sound 1st step ? Reason I'm asking is that I don't want to make sled then realise I should have built differently to accommodate jig ?
  4. I could make " CRANKENSTIEN"
  5. Got you dale, definitely another option, musky glen I think I follow you, sounds interesting. Dauds minimalist design sled appealing also, however, having just added a bigger table saw I reckon I might as well build a reasonably substantial sled which I can use for other purposes. Any more suggestions welcome, late night here and plan building tomorrow evening, so if anyone can help with better designs or improvements then please do ,thanks ....glider
  6. Would be a real, hard bait duad. Solid Sheffield stainless mark, and not antique either. ......gulp !
  7. Mark,it could be done the way you suggest by raising/lowering blade for each pass by measured amounts, but I thought it would be a pain in terms of user friendliness. ...glider
  8. Mark if you do it that way you can only make 1 pass with exact size blade for slot ,2 passes gives 1 step etc. Unless you make what l reckon would be a pretty complicated and less user friendly jig. The aim is adjustable slot widths with 1 blade, appreciate idea though. I've edited this, had idea of adjustable bar rather than various angled blocks- bad idea, not user friendly! Duad- thanks ,pics fine, I also cut slots before shaping mark.
  9. Exactly dauds. Should add , just a sketch nothing to actual scale at moment, I could make several blocks for various angles or 1 adjustable block.
  10. I'm thinking if I make back block fixed and slot made in angled block with bolt through back block and angled block slot thus allowing angled block only, to slide forward and back may be reasonable solution?
  11. Look deadly ,I could give you some chisels to make even deadlier
  12. Hi folks,Maybe should be in homebrew tools but thought I maybe get more feedback here ! Having decided to move from bandsaw to table saw for the bigger lip slots, I have decided more discretion and less valour the way to go. So,I have decided to build a decent sled and lip cutting jig ,as I'm about to build sled I thought I'd run a few ideas by you all . I've had a good dig back here and elsewhere and surprisingly there's not that much . I want to be able to adjust forward and back by a few mm keeping everything perfectly square. Shims between a fixed block behind angled block would be 1 solution, I also realise even easier would be just clamp lure to a block on sled and then unclamp and move forward. I would prefer not to use shims but maybe best. I'm willing to put time in to get right....here's one idea I'm looking at........thoughts appreciated. ..glider
  13. Bingo ! Pathology chisels. Given to a family member with the words -" don't know if these any use to your brother, a bit worn out" . Gave me the heebie jeebies. Might make a deadly lure though.
  14. On a lighter note than death jig above, for those who mess about making tools etc. ,for lure building ,I'm sure you'll have been given all sorts. For example you can't have enough tool steel, stainless steel and whatnot. So I was given these , any guesses what they are ? .suggested uses ?........glider
  15. Fear you maybe in wrong place crappie, unless you want rid of thousands of $$$$$$$££££££€€€€€ you best go back !
  16. Good reading,I wondered if it had been guy's from a certain area who knew each other or what ? Were there builders from around the world in earliest day's ?, l think it would be worth keeping going for any future builder's to see how ,who and where T.A originated. Appreciate insight, thanks......glider
  17. Interesting looking back at old threads, seeing methods develop, hopefully no old farts fall off their perch anytime soon.! As folks losing sense of humour, you maybe correct dale - you've turned into a right grumpy old git !
  18. I make gliders from various wood types bassdude. If your making a drop belly type glider I would be surprised if you could achieve stable action without ballast ,using microballoons alone. Personally I prefer a lot of buoyancy to allow for a lot of ballast options.
  19. One thing you want to get as accurate as possible with gliders in my experience is symmetry ,gliders can be much harder to get right than they appear. So aim for as symmetrical as you can manage, from pic it looks nice, good luck.
  20. Eastman, if you are using turner and getting what appears in pics as big sags or build up,and your turners not going silly fast or slow, which I Imagine it's not, then your putting on to much e-tex . Heating in warm water not the problem unless your leaving it so long when mixed that its starting to set. I personally don't leave for 10 mins before applying but rely on heat gun for bubbles. If that is patches of micro bubbles in picture also, then that can be caused by cold epoxy or also over use of heat/flame. (And many other things !) Good luck, and hope you get there. ....glider
  21. Thanks for that clemmy, very interesting and definitely appreciate the effort of those involved. I kinda wondered if maybe it was a group of like minded guy's from a certain area or whatever . So are the staff/moderaters volunteers or employed by lurepartsonline ? I would have thought if l.p.o own the site then posting about recommending supplies etc. from other suppliers would be a bit off ? Or is there no etiquette in that regard ? thanks again ,and any more info about the history of t.a and guys who made it happen would be interesting. ....glider
  22. Thanks dale, I couldn't find much info so would be interested to hear the how, where ,who and why etc.
  23. Hi, I know this may not be the place for this but thought I'd ask anyway. This is a great site and resource and I've been wondering about the sites history ,and how it came about. Who started the site? Who owns the site ? Is it a commercial enterprise ? Where is it based? Who runs it ? ,That sort of thing. There doesn't appear to be much info in homepage or wherever ,apologies if not the place to ask ......thanks ,glider
  24. Yip monte, the wicked opaque white is not bad though . I also moved to spray can auto primer ,especially for big lures. Now moved to hvlp spray gun, and can use any primer through it. Very quick, cost effective and quality finish if doing several at a time......glider
