    Chartreuse

Dear god,you guys will be making red and white lucky 13s next! (Raquel welch was fine right enough )
  2. Same as all colours j.p and why I only need 3 colours, it surprises me more folks don't mix there own .
  3. Good stuff f.n ,you can miss a step by not mixing fluo pink into white base by spraying opaque white through stencil or mask ,then spray fluo pink to desired effect-thin coat over white will give you maximum brightness, more coats will give deeper but less bright colour. .....glider

    Chartreuse

You can mix fluo green to fluo yellow to desired fluo chartreuse shade......glider
  5. If everyone did the same it would be a bore dale! fluorescence and u.v are something thats always interested me, it's quite a complex subject. I am looking at making my own fluorescent colours but it is a bit of a minefield. ......glder
  6. Yes ,putting fluorescent over other colours can give some different effects if desired dale, but if you want maximum fluo bright effect of single colour then white base is a must I think.
  7. Your fluo colours MUST be painted over white. mixing with white will change colour and severely affect fluorescence and brightness, like AZ said, a pic of particular pattern will help ......glider
  8. Hey eastman ,the fish eye is as bobp and jp say ,its caused by contamination , usually from touching with bare hands but can happen if paint or whatever underneath is not completely cured and dry.Dont touch sealed or painted blank with bare hands, use disposable gloves if you have to touch for any reason. Do not go near paint job with de-natured alcohol or you will ruin paint, alcohol great for wiping blank and epoxy between coats but not for wiping paint job. The lure turner flopping over issue is not the problem but is a pain , to minimise or stop that problem, counter balance with a similar weight lure or blank on opposite side of turner ,hope helps......glider
  9. Hey eastman, if you got turner personaly I would mix glitter in 1st coat e-tex. Over base colour, then candy transparent colur over epoxy. Definitely better with light coats e-tex in my experience, however thick coats unlikely to be cause of fish eye's, cheers......glider
  10. Like the nice subtle patterns j.p , look well finished.

    Foiled Baits

    Lovely foiled lures,look edible!
  13. Hey eastman, if using glitter in epoxy method then best use a lure turner,if just hanging lures then glitter can move about and could end up concentrated at end's, .If you don't have turner then another option is sprinkling onto uncured epoxy while still tacky.
  14. Thanks Richard, don't have a michaels in scotland, got a few dip pen calligraphy nibs on way though so all good, thanks again....glider
  15. Thanks bob, think I'll order a few dip pen nibs and give it a try,can turn a nice wood nib holder to fit, cheers glider.
  16. Richard, what sort of calligraphy pen would you recommend?
  17. Thanks richard, toying with that also.
  18. Hey guy's, ruined my micron pens which I had to get from u.s ,intended for signing lures (on and under e-tex) but Used and ruined on other project! . Before ordering more , I wonder if anyone using waterbased pens i.e waterbased sharpie ,sakura etc. In black, white or metallic ? Thanks ....glider
  19. Spot on j.p ,been using barbless single flies only for c +a for trout for 35 years !
  20. Sorry j.p ,yankin your chain. Ive desecrated many trout waters with a well placed lure!
  21. For minnow under 2 inch with small lip ,I wouldn't hesitate to go to 1mm lexan . P.s only joking about trout being more selective about lures !........ I wouldn't desecrate a trout water with lures........glider.
  22. No problem,I use the equivalent of minwax sanding sealer or wood hardner, then epoxy ,then white zinsser bin primer, you can dip or spray bin. Good quality white auto primer also good. Both fine over epoxy prior to painting. I use water based paints so no issues. If using oil based paints then make sure its compatible with primer or just use your oil based white as undercoat.
  23. Hoffbosn, there are various options for sealing ,priming etc. Each to their own, as bobp says it also depends on species etc. I build mostly for pike and no wood sealer will stop pike teeth for 20 years!,I seal wood with similar product to wood hardner or sanding sealer for ballasting or water testing, then light sand, then coat epoxy for good seal and good surface to paint. The sealer prior to epoxy also stops expanding air causing bubbles in 1st epoxy coat if using heat gun to bust epoxy bubbles after application. The epoxy base and topcoats are the main protection for me. You can paint directly on to epoxy, personaly I spray a coat of white primer prior to painting and zinsser bin or auto primer works for me,then paint, then several epoxy clear coat. If using water based paint then epoxy over this then no compatability problem. You can dip rather than spray primer,i prefer spray. Personally I dont use basswood after seeing numerous test lures splitting etc.very quickly when pierced. I recommend a lure turner if using epoxy. As for thru wire or screw eye's ,again personal choice but long screw eye's fitted properly are plenty strong and will often shear before unscrewing if you test. The lure in saltys link is thru wired popper and these are built slightly differently and benefit from dipping in oil based sealer to seal thru wire holes.Hope this helps, may be guy's who dip and hang will have info more suitable for your choice of wood and lure type..regards........glider
