    bib shapes

Interesting stuff bob p, numbers on lures just example 1 and 2. Total length only about 1 and 1/4 inch, total exposed-about 3 quarter inch.. I use these on shallow trolling lures....I've already tested them. I wondered if my theory of what i wanted to achieve with shape 2, as opposed to shape 1 seemed logical to others...It behaved as i hoped it would . Would like opinions of some of you guy's so as to affirm or not, what effect the change in action from1 to 2 would be ,if any...The other things that concerned me was as you mentioned i.e would number 2 be less forgiving in terms of bib build quality affecting action ,and also using method I use to make bibs would it be to tricky to produce. Regarding making them ,like many i cut on bandsaw then shape on disc sander. . Surprisingly actually not as difficult as imagined. Thanks again bob p.

    bib shapes

Hey guys,I've been messing about with some different bib shapes on a particular lure, pretty much shad shape, cedar 6inch,shallow runner. Seeing what i can get from it with different shapes. Assuming overall surface area of 2 in pic below is equal, what would you expect the difference in action if any , to be ?
  3. You could mark, you could, but then you'd miss out on the fun i had making those wee scales and applying one at a time onto uncured envirotex !
  4. O.k dale, life's to short and I would like to try and develop this scale effect further,so if yourself or anyone else can chip in some idea's it's appreciated. Till now i have only used what I had handy- I think an adhesive backed holo material would work better than transfer foil i had to hand. On latest proto which will be finished tomorrow, i have used silver venture tape and holo scales over holo foil. Showing promise. What I would like to figure out is some way of achieving mixed lines of scales like some lucky craft lures have without having to apply each scale individually. ..any ideas guy's?
  5. Check this dale, now that is ugly ! This is scales applied in layers as opposed to just on 1st layer. Some therfore are under candy paint some not. Seemed like a good idea but is in my eye's genuinely ugly !
  6. Of course dale ,as a friend ,i knew instantly what you meant , stay with this,i appreciate and value your opinions.....but just for good measure i should warn you my latest scale prototype is curing and will post tomorrow night, you maybe should avert your eye's or put on shades ! Eys popping , and one is so ugly even i can't look at it !
  7. Hey thanks stretcher 66, trying to find an inoffensive equivalent American saying to describe 'having bit of fun at dales expence', we call it - 'taking the p### ' apparently no American equivalent !
  8. That hurt dale, hope centigrade gets to see before i delete pics of my ugly lures.
  9. Just to add dale, this was a side experiment while foiling some lures ,centigrade happened to post question about holo scales which interested me ,so i made a couple prototypes. I did mention I had different effect in mind but would try few ideas out. won't post pic of new variations unless of use to centigrade or anyone else. Beauty in the eye of the beholder ,or hopefully some big old pike! P.s not able to edit out multiple pics .
  10. Thanks dale, but i don't feel bad ! May look odd in pic but very close to what i was aiming for, i.e injured, knocked about scale look. This can be a trigger for feeding pike. Those two claimed already ,got two more variations on turner using slightly different technique. Not everyone's taste ,but i like em. Cheers.
  11. Looks like transparent forest green over clear blank with holo foil areas underneath to me ? Hard to see properly though.

Thanks all eyes ,toying with the idea of taking a bit further, was more to test idea and look. Think I'll make a couple more with improvements. Thanks again.
  14. 36 of them by the looks of things!
  15. Appreciated t.u,must take a lot of time and work .Fantastic job you guy's do thanks...glider.
  16. Took this last pic in daylight guy's, to show different effect. Hope of use to someone. Even if it saves you bother of trying it cause you don't like effect..glider

  20. Here are a couple holo scale prototypes centigrade, My aim was a knocked about scale look. Didn't go overboard on scales because I didn't want over garish effect. Also not easy to capture full holo effect in picture, but even with just a few they really catch the eye, just like you often see ,particularly on slightly wounded/stunned prey fish. Achieved the look I was after and hopefully some food for thought.........regards glider.
  21. All interesting info guy's, I'm wondering if the little extra 'give' in e-tex actually helps in this particular case?,in other words,it's resistance to crack and ability to' grab' .I've used various 'glue' epoxies for screws over few years without giving it any great thought because all have done the job well. I've also used e-tex before for screws and lips without problem. Because i fit my screws and bibs as last step in build (i like clean look this produces ) and e-tex is non yellowing and compatible (what i use as top coats ) then it's use for hardware is handy for me, even more so after that simple test. Baring in mind i never put screw eyes fully in ,so not a practical test of how most would fit to their lures. I was still surprised at strength of c.a.glue in this particular circumstance. And learned for the millionth time - 'don't assume without question '. !!
  22. Indeed travis, and the other epoxy ,made by sika is an industrial epoxy, specifically a structural epoxy, hence i thought would be good test. Hey ho, live and learn, cheers, glider.
