Thanks barry, it's a pattern that consistently works, I use them in several shades and lure types.
  3. For your olive take say 10 drops transparent yellow, add 2 drops transparent blue, now you have light green so depending how green you want your olive, you will vary amount of blue .I.e , a greener olive=more blue. Now add a drop of transparent red.this will give you an olive shade, these amounts are a very loose approximation and you will find it more towards a brown olive than you might want, so cut back on the red. You will find you only need tiny amount of red to achieve nice gold olive shade, maybe only a quarter of a drop ! Hope this helps.
  4. Hi jon, depends what shade olive your after, are you using opaque or transparent? what do mean by lively?
  5. Thats what I do, transparent/candy paint with transparent base jiggnpig, you can get very subltle colour over foil with no muddyness or opacity.

  12. O.k guy's, posted my pics to tackleunderground, didn't know address so just put u.s.a on envelope! you obviously never got them (Joking) Anyway going try uploading some. Any picture taking tips appreciated.
  13. Not sure exactly what you mean, I take it you tried candy/ transparent paints and didn't get effect you wanted?
  14. Hi, lurenerd, depends what how far you want to take it and which wood you intend to use. I can make cranks using just a chisel a file and drill. However if you plan on getting into making a lot of lures then the following is what I use a lot- bandsaw, combi disc/belt sander, pillar drill, standard power drill, carving knife(I use chisel) various drill bits including forstner bit for ballast holes.wood gauge or v.block for marking centre lines along blank length(various options for this, easy to make ).like I say, you can make blanks as good as any with just a saw for rough shape, a knife and a rasp or file. But if you think you might get into lots of lures of different types etc.then bandsaw, sander and drill are sound investment. I also use small router table a fair bit for rounding edges on some lures .hope this helps
  15. You wouldn't be mixing colours but mixing wicked glo base to colors , seems thats o.k., regarding the wicked glo, you do have to use thin coats over a solid white to get a bright looking white if that's what's desired. The glo base, according to createx ,gives a stronger u.v effect. I'm more interested in getting a bright fluo like white, whilst you might be after maximum u.v effect chuck, will be experimenting!
  16. I use alcohol and have no problem. Also heard about ammonia issues, however I have also seen email from badger saying ,in dilution as shoot through cleaner as opposed to complete soak then no issues. He even says he's done it for 30years and seen no damage at all !
  17. Happened to check what's in it- 1-methoxy-2-propanol ? And proprietary h20 upto 97 percent. Some sort of Biodegradable solvent in water ?
  18. High volume, low pressure. Basic spray gun . Runs off compressor. Quick and good finish.
  19. Thanks glen, that's what I think of when using the term lacquer, or lacquer based . Maybe it's not possible to have universal terminology after all, too many different compounds and different names for them, bob p. Was right , I'm wading out!
  20. Probably right guy's, but must be a nightmare if translating to another language!
  21. Looks like to deep to wade then! Surely it must be possible to have some sort of consensus on the basic make-up of paint, primer, sealer, topcoat etc. I mean what could be simpler than defining 'laquer based' for example? P.s mark, what about the fluorescence/phosphorecence situation ?
  22. Try wicked opaque white, also cheaper acrylics might not have u.v protection.
  23. Looked again at u.v. wicked chuck, I suspect this would do the trick, but to appear super white would have to be on top of solid bright white . Which may mean if you want certain details or bars etc.to pop ,they would need to be done in bright opaque white 1st. Hope you get desired result , let us know how it goes, thanks
