  1. I've recently picked up a few presto pots and want to instal a mixer on them. I'd like to make one myself to save a few bucks. Was wondering what some of you guys using them are doing for mixing systems? Thanks

    Brand Newb

I have been pouring for 4-5 years now, and will defiantly say that I have defiantly not gotten board with it at all. But to each his own. I have open pour senko type molds from lurecraft that work very well for me. I the only style of senko I can't make is a swirl. Hand pouring I can still make laminates, senkos with tails and few other ways that can't be made using injection. One thing I love about open pouring is how easy it is to duplicate baits and make replica molds. I have a few creature molds that obviously produce flat sided baits. I haven't noticed any fish preference in creatures with flat bottoms versus and injected creature. Nice advantage with open pouring things like creatures is sky's the limits as to what you can do with colours an patterns. Lot easier to make multi coloured appendages or make a bait with more than two colours laminated together. I can't say much about injection as I don't really have much experience there. But after learning the basics of hand pouring you can produce some baits that are very unique and original. I'm just getting into dipping tubes so again can't say much there other that at the moment after only a few runs, I will say they are time consuming.

    How Much Salt?

Thanks for tips and info. I'll definatly be adding a significantly larger amount of salt in my stick worms. I've only been using an 8:1 plastic to salt in my sticks. Works well for me but I've had a few clients ask for a quicker sinking worm.

    How Much Salt?

Softner? I haven't used softner before. Why do you add that? Does the hefty amount of salt stiffen up the worm a bit? I haven't tried that much salt in a batch so I wouldn't have yet noticed. Thanks

    How Much Salt?

Thanks, I should have also stated that I do have a thicker( harder) plastic for tubes.
  6. Hello all, Fairly new to this forum, I have joined as I feel there is a great community with a wealth of knowledge. I have picked up a few nice tips in exploring the board. I have been hand pouring for a few years now and know my way around a bit. My question is this, I am looking to make a stick worm with a very simalar sink rate to a yamamoto. What kind of salt to plastic ratios are you guys having success with? I am using a plastic from do it or formally canny creek. I typically run 4 cup batches with room for added salt volume Secondly, what about tube salt ratios? I am brand new to tubes and I know there is loads of salt in them usually and I don't really want to mess up a batch by adding too much as tube runs are using a lot more plastic. Many thanks
  7. If your not far from the boarder, find a location stateside to have an order shipped to. I'm in Ottawa and it is cheaper for me to make the 1.5hr trip to pick up on the other side of the boarder than it is to have it shipped over to me. On 5 gallons, my gas is a lot cheaper than shippin over the boarder. At the same time I'll grab groceries while I'm there and the savings there make my trip well worth while.
