  1. Vman and I have yapped about this some. It's a good way to get and idea of what you need. I have one that I made from a bucket and pvc pipe three or so years ago, Then I made one from a clear plastic fish tank and pvc pipe. I really don't use the tank for that anymore. I use it to watch the way the lure sinks or floats. I have given up on a true suspending lure. Vman and many other told me about why this is hard to do, this is why. I was testing some lures two years ago that would rise just a little. The weather got colder, the water got much cooler. I went back and the same lure sunk. The people explained that there are several conditions that can change the suspending lure. So I created most lures to float slowly. Unless someone wants a sinking bait.
  2. I use a .35 Revolution at about 40psi for Autoair sealers. I don't like thinning a sealer to much so the fusion is at the highest quality. The dry tip happens occasionally, but not enough to bother me too much.

I have bought from where these people have mentioned. What I want you to know about. The first is I did what you are about ready to do, you should be happy. Second, read up on how to preserve it, I learnt from what Nathan has wrote. Three, wait if possible for discount coupons. Enjoy Also know about safety, ventilation.
  4. LOL, isnt that the truth AA. Ok I'll tell my age, technology in the last four decades has been so rapid that it's mind blowing. For me the life of 3D Printing has only appeared in the last decade or two, other than science fiction. With the outlook of profitability as far time for the technology to catch up is why I stated I may never look at it as a way to make baits. That doesn't mean I'm no more intrigued. That is exactly what I was wondering about soild plastic molding/forming about buoyancy AA. Thanks
  5. Looking good! Yeah keep us posted as you move forward. I'll probably never make baits this way, but I'm still interested. I'll assume you have installed ballast. Have you tested it yet? I'm curious in the buoyancy.
  6. I agree with Travis. I just got out of a problem that Travis described with a small company. You just get too much BS sometimes from companies and some is true, just don't never know. I am staying with a very few smaller companies that I trust. I would call too, and pass on the info on good reliable companies. If I ever get on the case of one, your know I have a BIG gripe!
  7. I have a air driven motor that I could make a fan for a booth. I've thought about doing it, but the delivery of air may not be worth it. I have a 50 gal tank. It's in the future maybe.
  8. DDL, that refers to the motor overheating protection. Life of the motor is the protection, it's not about a sealed electrical motor.
  9. That is always the best thing to do. X2 Mark
  10. So many here helped me to understand about wooden lures and how to build them. It's only fitting that I pass on what I have found that works for me. I don't get on every day anymore, but I get on as much as I have time to, always willing to help. My best advice is to be open minded!
  11. Sudd, these booths are for water base paints. Thats where you come in, you need to know what fits your needs. So many buys without reading up on what they are looking for or asking questions like you are doing. I'll tell you about something pretty slick that one person did in his booth too. This guy put thin aluminum sheets inside of his booth. This is for clean up in overspray that doesn't get out the exhaust.
  12. Ditto to what Mark has said. Welcome. Reading your post seem that I was writing your post except for that 30 years. I was a tab bit further back in time. We didn't have a lot so we made ours to fish local ponds. This has started another hobby for me lately. I'm collecting "folk art lures" with some quality. I guess those days of my childhood has made me start that collecting and this hobby now. Ask away!
  13. No Sudd, you want to get it out away from you.

Yep the tigers are always my favorite, very nice.
  15. My bad, I was thinking of a homemade booth. Yep, you want it to go out with no restrictions using a fan.
  16. Can you put a portable fan in a window? Just make sure you keep an eye on it. It should be alright. The only reason that I'm like this is because of what I do and what I have seen. I'm going to bring up one more important apparatus, respirator since you use lacquer. Your family and you, your home are more important than taking a chance. Good luck & as said, tight lines!
  17. Don't use that fan! That fan is not a sealed unit, intrinsically safe/explosion proof or fire proof. There are fans that are made for this. You can go for a long time with no problem or never. Then again one time would be too many times. Yep these fans cost more. One other thing, look at a filter before the fan and duct. Make it where you can change it out easily. The filter will help the life of your fan. Take a evening and read up and look at different types of booths.
  18. AA, one of these ideas could eliminate a lot of peoples problems with resin baits. Normally what I read is that baits dont float. A jig could give you a controlled condition in drilling with a drill press for depth.
  19. Whitaker, don't worry about your painting they are just fine, very nice and the fish like them. We as a human race always trys tinkering with something that is already a proven work/product/bait. We over think a lot, the bait and color is already proven. Fish the heck out of them.
  20. That's interesting, I paint from 5-25 lbs. Thick primer coates I shoot at about 25-30 and thats with a .30. I do paint with .20 that I thin down some paints to shoot through this but the pressure stay about the same. I still wonder if the resin is still gassing off. I haven't ever worked with it so I can't say. I believe I have seen a thread about this not too long ago that you can search for. Maybe someone can chime in that knows more about this issue. Good luck!
  21. I'll throw this out there. Are you painting wood or plastic blanks? If wood, the wood could be gasing off. This doesn't sound like that, but I was thinking about what it could be. If you sealed the wood properly this problem would be worst most likely. Trust me I know. I bought some fresh cut wood (didn't know) and this happened. If plastic, are you cleaning the blank thoroughly? Im thinking contamination.
  22. I'll tell you what a lot like that bottom bait color and white for smallmouth. I feel that real fancy paint work doesn't always catch fish. Nice work and fish! Your right about posting pic's. You can post to ask a question. This is to stop advertising, which this forum is not for.
  23. As stated a bad reputation here is not good for a company. Glade everything is right.
  24. I'll fourth that. Matter of fact that reminds me I need to get a list together for winter work.
  25. AA, if you support the the mold then it would not flex as much. if there is a little misalignment it can be touched up. It is a little more work than just pulling the bait out and some clean up. I still believe that a cavity drilled into the body would eliminte buoyancy issues in resins, or a few holes. As I stated, I put in rattle chambers and I have to place more ballast in to compensate if needed, well more like if want. I like slow floating baits a lot, I have to slow them down some times.
