  1. So my girlfriend (keep in mind I'm 48) calls on her way home from the gym and says "I'm going to the Dollar General, do you need anything?' And my reply was "Yes, I need tweezers, cheap pantyhose and clear nail polish" Is that weird? Ron
  2. Thanks guys Didn't want to screw up a bait that is "good enuf" for me
  3. Hey guys, can you sand epoxy? I painted a jerkbait and didn't notice a couple bubbles in the clear. I was wondering if you can you 1000 grit sand paper or maybe steel wool to smooth the bubbles down and then add a second coat. I would rather know before I try. That way if I can't I just put it in my tackle box instead of giving it to my son.
  4. OK now I'm ticked. I called the number Grosenberg gave me and it went to a recording saying voicemail was full and I could not leave a message. Guess it's time to just call my bank
  5. Thanks for the phone number. I never saw it on their site. I'm beat today so will call tomorrow.
  6. I think you would have issues with heating the layer of plastic that is cut and the sacrificial layer because of heat transfer consistency with the layer of air between both sheets. But this is how we learn. So try it and if it works teach us. Ron
  7. Try Createx transparent Leaf Green.
  8. Hey guys, I am not bad mouthing by any means because I understand with some of this hobby you deal with very small companies to get certain things. But I made a purchase through lurelayouts.com a the day before Thanksgiving. Given the holidays and such, I would understand a little slow. However, I have sent 3 different emails to find out if the items have been shipped as they have been paid for. I have not gotten a response. Would anyone here know the owner or maybe have a contact phone number as one is not listed on the website? Just want to contact to see where I stand on the order. Ron
  9. I don't pour any more but the Martha Stewart Brand of glitter does a great job and holds up to repeated heatings awesomely Ron
  10. Just in case someone needs it, Shelt's has them also. I know because they sent me 2 as samples. I don't know how they swim as I haven't tried them. Maybe here shortly in a local pond before it ices over. I did however, contact them about the samples as I was under the impression that they were not available due to patent issues. The reply went something like {yes we have them, we can work up an invoice on your requirements}. Any way, it was something like that. Is the S Crank really that popular for it's action or is it just a fun crank to paint as it has a unique profile? Ron
  11. Just as I think (doesn't happen often) I'm starting to get a grasp of this airbrush stuff, someone has to show off. Awesome job
  12. Nice Job. Particularly like the fin.
  13. Good luck Dale. I have a routine that I follow. It includes step by step pictures on most of the jobs I have painted and was able to recreate. I also write myself instructions.. Ron
  14. Do not ask me what year is was because I honestly don't remember (somewhere around 2009. Del had his annual sale. Cant remember if it was a buy one get one deal or a buy one get half off deal. What I remember was ordering $1500 in molds. I was told because of the nature of my order being (1 of this mold, 2 of this mold, 3 of this one, etc) that he would need a month to fill, 1 month later no molds. By his next November sale, I had only received 1/2 of my order and was sent along with a nasty email a check for about 1/2 of what I was owed. If I have a bad experience with a company, I usually would not put it out there for public review. However, the year worth of lies and not getting for reimbursement of my funds allows me to at least say I will not do business with him again.. I will say he had or has excellent molds. But the work ethics and customer service were poor. Ron
  15. Ditto on the blue/silver. Not saying it out performs a black/silver as I use both but those are my number 1 and 2 in a rattle bait. It's taken me probably 2 months of painting almost every day with different paints and techniques, but I think I finally got both a silver/blue and a silver black I like. Hopefully I'll find out here shortly. Waiting on boat repair so I can get a quick end of year trip to the Ozarks. Ron
  16. I absolutely love my secret weapon spinner baits. But the reason I am looking for something similar to the quick clip is so I can add a spinner blade to another lure to sort of act like an underspin. Maybe small ball bearing swivels with split rings? Ron
  17. Something like or similar to Secret Weapon Lures is what I am looking for. But I pretty sure Secret Weapon was sold and they are not producing spinner baits any longer. I may be wrong but I had talked to someone there earlier this year and he said the company was in the process of being sold. Ron
  18. Does anyone know where you can purchase quick clip spinnerbait blades? I know I've seen them online but cant for the life of me find them. Thanks Ron
  19. Lure colour studio has a GL 140. Page 3 of his blank lure page. Not sure if that's what you are looking for but Mr. Summers is very quick to respond to emails. Ron

    Nice Job!
  21. That link was an awesome example of what quality should be. With those definitions, I can now tell what is and isn't a quality blank. Ron
  22. Guys, I have read alot on this forum and one thing that gets me is the word quality. What is a quality blank? Being new to the hobby myself, I have ordered blanks from 5 different companies over the past 6 months, including Shelts. Out of 300 baits ive gotten from them only 1 has leaked. I've put the all under water. Of the ones I've fished or my son has fished, everyone (limited sample of 15 or so) has run true without the need for tuning. Over 4 orders, i received everyone in less than 12 days to the U.S. After the initial order, they sent the next 3 orders with free samples. And they have answered a couple emails rather quickly. The only blanks that in my batch maybe was an issue is the panfish swimbait. Edges around the dorsal fin needed touched with sand paper. Other company baits, I have purchase about 200 baits and 3 have been what I would not consider a good blank. 1 leaked, and 2 had grooves in the sides. I am not praising shelts or any other company. Nor will I bash anyone. Even if i feel the need because my experience with a company may be a single good or a single bad experience. So the question begs, what is a qaulity blank?
