  1. I'm also working on a two piece sinking glide and have had the same problems as Highwayman. I got both sections to sink horizontally at the same rate, but when i try to give it a hard twitch it either turns and dives, or it does a complete barrel roll. I was thinking that maybe the weight in each section should be more spread out instead of in one spot. What do you guys think?
  2. The spray is very easy to use, but I think that in order to get a coat that's as strong as epoxy, you'll need to spray your bait quite a few times. When I sprayed one coat of KBS, I could barely tell that there was any clear coat on my bait...
  3. I only did two coats with the spray. We'll see if that's enough... Seems kind of thin though
  4. Waiting on the first coat to dry! I can barely see the clear on the bait. How many coats would you guys recommend?
  5. Yeah, I don't know how well I'll be able to spray in the joints, but it shouldn't matter too much. As long as it doesn't flake too badly, I should be fine.
  6. Sweet! My lures are resin. so I'll try spraying them while they're still assembled.
  7. Oh, and one more question: can I spray a jointed swimbait that is already assembled or will it clog up the joints? Should I spray each segment individually?
  8. I just purchased a can of KBS from Amazon. We'll see how well it works.
  9. Hmmmm I think I might seriously consider this KBS. It is a little pricey, but it sounds pretty easy to apply.
  10. Looks great! So i'm assuming that it won't go bad like automotive clear coat does? I know that the automotive starts to react once you first start using it.
  11. Thanks for the replies! I didn't pull the trigger on that deal, but I will keep looking! I don't have much to spend on an airbrush, so I'll just have to wait for another good deal.
  12. Any thoughts before the time runs out would be appreciated
  13. Hey guys! I'm looking at an airbrush on ebay right now and am wondering if it will work. It is listed as a Master Airbrush Cake Decorating System, but won't it work with acrylic? 14. Does this clear coat go bad after a certain time like the automotive clear coat does?
  15. Ok thanks Anglin. I might give automotive a shot sometime in the future
  16. Hahaha great input guys, but how about the automotive clear coat for hard baits? That's really what I'm trying to ask about here. I do appreciate the info on soft plastics though, since I do that as well.
  17. Yeah I was mainly wondering about automotive clear coat that comes in rattle cans. I've always wanted to try it because it seems sooo much easier than epoxy, but I was always scared because I thought I remembered someone saying that the fumes could kill you. Is that true?
  18. Huh, I've heard that the fumes could be harmful. I just bought the respirator, but if it's not necessary for automotive, I'll just use it when I'm sanding. What type of clear do you use, Anglinarcher? I just realized that this is in the soft baits section... Aw well
  19. https://www.amazon.com/3M-07192-Paint-Spray-Medium/dp/B0002STR22/ref=sr_1_1?s=industrial&ie=UTF8&qid=1502823659&sr=1-1&keywords=3m+07191 Would this one work for automotive clear coating? If not, which one would?
  20. So the SB coat can be brushed on/airbrushed and it doesn't need a clear coat? I may have to try that stuff out. Sounds interesting...
  21. How about just regular airbrushing paint?
  22. It is necessary to protect the paint after you airbrush a soft bait, right?
  23. It's been a while! So far I've been making different soft swimbaits and coloring them with Alumilite's alumidust. A friend says that I can use his airbrush so that I can do more realistic paint jobs on my baits, but what should I use for the clear coat?
  24. Thanks for the info, guys! Maybe I'll get one some day, but right now I think I'll focus on making some baits without the glitter. Thanks again!
  25. Huh. Alright, thanks Frank! I'll have to decide whether or not I want to spend the money on a devise. About how much does one cost and where would I buy one?
