  1. The one thing I don't like on swimbaits is that the rear hook is usually too far forward. I have knocked around the idea of using a section of heavy braid tied and superglued to the rear hanger in a way that makes it protrude rearward - past the tail. Then I would tie my treble or single hook to it. I haven't tried it yet. The question is how much it will kill the action. But when my pool thaws out, I will. In my opinion, the further back the hook is, the more hookups you will get. Those predators love to take short strikes.
  2. Thanks, guys. They may look all over the place. But they all fall into my 5 point craw theory. Those little buggers imitate their environment, mud, rock, Iron (orange and red), and weeds. The fifth group is for visibility.
  3. These dadgum modern invenshuns. What will they think of next! Instead of a google search, can I just call information on my rotary phone? One ringy dingy - two ringy dingy ...
  4. I love the Createx line of products. That being said, I would never use it as a topcoat. It might be useful as a layering tool - although T base is probably more receptive to additional layers. For newer painters, it might give a nice preview of what the topcoat will look like. A coat after the main paint job might be nice before addition of a fin. Then if you mess up the fin, you can wipe it and try again. For an indoor topcoat, any epoxy is fine. E-tex and Devcon 2 ton are popular. Drying time has to be thirty minutes or more to allow for leveling. A lure turner is just about a must - have, but easy to make with a microwave turntable motor, which turns at just the right speed.
  5. Please post a picture or a link.
  6. Range hoods are a great idea. Get one that actually vents outside. you want the fumes to go outside. They are easy enough to wire. They do not plug in. I am no sure of which wire or plug you would safely use if you jury rigged a plug. Others can comment on that. For a spray booth, you might want to mount it rearward, so the fan is drawing the fumes away from you when spraying.
  7. I believe they post results on the 14th. If you look up the contest link it says there.
  8. Yeah those redwood blanks do exist. But they are HUUUUGE!
  9. I use createx on jigs all the time. You can get nice detail - say on a spinnerbait head. Epoxy protects it well and adds a little weight. It also adds volume. So if you are dealing with current, they will drag.
  10. I just posted a bunch of pics in the gallery. Most of them are part of my SS Craw series. I also posted one really transparent baby gill. Let me know what you think.
