Trust me it wasn't on purpose lol. But I was also using it with a green pumpkin. Side note for new guys. Double check. Colors you grab instead of just reaching
-
I used a Flo blue and got pretty close but I also used salt. Which is why I said what I did lol
-
Is that a decent place to do business with? I like the molds they have there.
-
I make something close to that. It really depends on if you plan on using salt or not, if you don't use salt then my color wont work out the same.

This one looks pretty close to the 702 http://www.basstackle.com/736_Craw_p/736-kj-1.htm

Pretty good action? Right now I'm leaning towards Do-It so I don't have any issues with waiting. The BassTackle 736 looks nice too, but I haven't heard of anyone using it.

I've been snooping around here looking for info or even a discussion on the topic with little luck outside of the sticky. Where do folks get their colors from? Any favorites or some you don't like? Some colors are very close to the same and maybe making a list for people new to the lifestyle can help them avoid purchasing the same thing. In my little exp I've seen some Pumpkin Seeds that are really close to Watermelon Browns. Notably the Do It x2 in those colors are pretty close. For someone who's making for themselves maybe one or the other could save them a few bucks.

I've done this on a couple of molds. It works great for personal use, but I make enough bait's that It's just easier to buy cnc'd stuff.

Anyone have any exp with the Basstackle 736?

I'm 2 weeks into mine with bears baits. My only frustration is the mold I purchased went on sale and I emailed about a possible price adjustment since mine hadn't been shipped yet and nothing. I waited 4 days and called yesterday. I haven't heard back but I understand that he's behind.(had I known he was behind because of flooding I would have waited to order) The mobile app didn't show his message that he had just resumed shipping. No harm no foul there. Just wouldn't mind at least a reply to a question once in a while. Fishing is pretty well finished up in November. Hopefully I can get some kind of craw mold by then. What's hurting me most is the Fire red I'm out of and needed off that order. Do you guys carry that?
-
See I've already been waiting on a mold for two weeks from Bears baits. I'd prefer to not wait too long on a mold for the simple fact it's that portion of the season around here that craws are where it's at, and guys are asking for them. I'm not a huge volume guy and right now I only sell to cover cost's. But if I don't get a mold until mid november I'll be dealing with ice not to mention smack dab in the middle of trapping season. So lets go with the best craw I won't have to wait weeks for and the people communicate. Side note I apologize for the small rant, It's been a frustrating couple of weeks.

I appreciate the help folks!

702 from who?
-
I'm ordering tomorrow morning.

So I see a lot of guys posting recommendations for craw molds. I'm still waiting for my Bears Bait Crazy Craw. So I've decided to move on without that for the time being, mostly because I have no idea when it's going to arrive. I'm looking for a good action Craw that can double as a trailer. I'm not too worried about the price.

Aluminum foil with some work can make a laminate plate. So if the baits are for you and not production, id recommend trying that route.

Pickling salt is very fine and not as cloudy. To me it suspends just as well as the stuff you buy from the websites.

As a composite repair technician I know that isn't released unless you burn plastisol. But I'm not going to sit here and argue with you or anyone else. That's not why I'm here. I have bigger things to concern myself with.
-
Actually OSHA doesn't worry much about plastisol so long as you're in a ventilated area. I'd be happy to provide an MSDS that specifically says that if you'd like.
-
Actually as a composite repair technician I do understand what the chemicals are. But I'm not going to go into great detail about my knowledge of plastics. I recommended the n95 because with good ventilation the only real threat you have with plastisol is going to be the fine flake and other materials added along with the risk of spatter. A half mask is highly recommended, but unless you're fitted means nothing. The n95 is a self fitting mask and doesn't require any certification. In my line of work these masks are considered sufficient when in a well ventilated area with PVC based plastics. But that's here nor there.
-
I apologize if that sounds snooty or aggressive. I just re read it and realized that my tone wasn't conveyed very well.
-
Recommending a full or half face respirator to someone who hasn't been fitted for one is worse than the n95. If you're going to buy a half or full face you need to know a couple of things. No facial hair is highly recommended. Get fitted by someone certified if at all possible. If you don't do either of these you're going to be breathing in more than you would with a simple mask and likely do more damage.

I don't mind the idea of hand pouring. I've been tinkering with the idea of making a swim bait pour mold myself. But I haven't hand poured anything as of yet.
