Thank you Tom, I was surprised it did that well. Now I have to come up with a competitive pattern for next year. Only thing left to do now is try to figure out what to spend my winnings on. There is way too many choices from both websites. -
It is an honor to be judged among some of the most incredible submissions this year. I was not expecting to win, I was just hoping to get third among those awesome flies. What a great showing of incredible talent out there, I am honored to be among you. Thank you judges for your time and effort to make this competition available. It is incredible to see such artistic expression and dedication to the craft. A huge applause to everyone who was involved.

Really going for the anticipation factor this year? I have to hand it to the judges, there are several awesome submissions this year. Thanks for stepping up and making this all possible.

This is my Indigo Dragonfly. It is one of three colors I tie for friends and family. I am a disabled veteran and began tying flies for therapy a little over a year ago. I had been studying my local entomology looking for ideas to try to mimic. Our local dragonflies peaked my interest and the hunt was on for the right materials to mimic these awesome insects. Thankfully, I found nearly everything I needed from Anglers Workbench. They are always so helpful and allow me to stop in to pick io my orders personally. I took these pictures at the very spot that inspired me to in the first place.

Congratulations to the winners, I missed being in the top three fly patterns but hope to tie a killer submission for next year. A lot of talented tiers out there the flies all looked great.

I use the heavy packing film used to ship electronics and use sharpies to color to suit. Foil tops of nut cans, dental floss color to suit with sharpie, nitrile gloves, wool lint from the dryer, fabric sheets and scotch tape for wings, and any man made material I find. -

I am new to fly tying and have found this endevour rewarding and therapuetic. I am a disabled veteran and have found fly tying to be a perfect activity to participate in.
