  1. Tried the local hardware stores for pvc trim board and it’s special order by the pallet only. Go a piece of pine to try for now till I head into the city
  2. Heck I can’t even figure out how to thin out a few photos even Lol definitely a pain when I was trying to give tying instructions for a jig when it kicked in
  3. There is a reason when I sold lures to stores I would take at least one employee fishing using my lures If I could get that employee to have a great day catching fish on my lures I knew I would sell more lures through that location. There is a big difference between your lure hanging on the rack vs the employee showing pics from an awesome day fishing with the guy who makes the lure If you are having your tackle sold in a shop the employees recommendation makes a huge difference.
  4. All I ask is if you are given the chance to help others pay it forward Do that and we are square
  5. It will let me do one more pic so here is the finished jig for the time being
  6. Reached out to see how to clear some old photos. Once I have it sorted I will continue
  7. Seems I have reached my max on allowed photos on the forum. How can I erase some old photos so I can post new ones?
  8. Trying to figure out how to erase some old photos so I can continue this might take a bit
  9. I have to clear some photos to continue hold on lol
  10. Add in some pink flashabou
  11. Tie in about 6 strung hackle around the ball then spin a strung marabou collar
  12. First a few tie in some pearl flashabou where the flashabou ends build up a ball of random material. This is just to flare the tail feathers of the jig and it’s not seen
  13. Ok material list pearl flashabou pink flashabou pearl uv ice dub red large chenille white strung marabou white strung hackle
  14. Ok first off when it comes to lures things can be extremely regional on what is popular and available. The jitter bug is still well stocked on shelves in some areas. What is viewed as go to lures in one region will collect dust when it comes to selling lures every are is different and it’s not just getting some pro to use it. As for re launching an old design it is 100% do able and in many ways just like launching a new lure. Marketing is key like others mentioned. I personally know one lure that came out years ago and failed to take off do to poor marketing. The company was bought out and relaunched with way better marketing by the new owner. That lure has expanded into a brand that is no longer regional but expanded across Canada. I know both the original and present owner of this lure/brand So you bet you can successfully bring back an old design but it will be your ability to market it that will make or break your adventure. Lures don’t sell themselves even if they are awesome
  15. Looks like it has had a ruff life lol About half way or even closer to the back of the hook tie in some saddle hackle feathers for the tail. Then spin strung marabou around the hook to create the collar. Probably 2-3 good size marabou feathers will do If you want after breakfast I can tie up a jig of similar style and post a pic that would likely treat you well. If you’re interested in it I can add material list so you could make your own
  16. If you can post a pic of what you are thinking for a jig odds are I can give you a good idea on material and approach to typing I think I know what you are looking for but there is so many options
  17. In the end it’s your hobby and really you choose where you want to take it. Your lure looks good with an action that should get bit Don’t get too caught up on having to follow what others have done to learn how to build or paint lures.I am the poster child for just winging it and making it happen lol @DGagner research the colour spectrum and what washes out as light is filtered out by depth of water. Then add in the fact murky or stained water filters out light even more then clear water. You begin to realize it does not take much before a lot of paint jobs become shades of grey in a hurry. But you can use this to your advantage choosing colours. Action is still king and have caught many fish on unpainted wooden lures or white resin blanks. One of my go to’s is always a pure white lure
  18. Go with whatever turns your crank. The fact of the matter is when you get into the finer details of lure painting its for catching the human eye not fish. In my opinion there is no wrong or right answer to your question. Try different things and see what you like. Worst case you cover it up with a new base coat or clean it up and start over
  19. I use a cordless drill, side cutters and a file to make it nice and clean. This is with 4 coats of kbs. I used the same process with epoxy clear. I have not hear of any tricks cleaning it off before it dries. Odds are you will just hear different ways people clean it up once it’s dry
  20. I don’t like the storm system because I have had big pike tear off the treble hook. They poured the hook hanger into fairly soft lead and it has no other connection to the single hook you tie too. This is not an issue for smaller species but larger fish will tear the hook out at times If you are going to make an internal harness weight system I would improve the storm system.by running the wire from the hook hanger up so it connects to the single hook then cast it in lead the other option is external. Run a small chunk of wire leader material between the single and treble. Add a corkscrew to hold into the bell of the bait or just use one of the barbs on the treble These are two options off the top of my head. If the external system interests you there are a ton of options. If you do a google search on how musky and pike guys rig swimbaits you will find some ideas for sure
  21. Thanks guys if anyone has other options I still want to here them. Up for trying a few things to see what I like. It does not have to create a working lure just a mold master
