Made a virtual model of the bait in fusion 360... then created the template around it

It’s capabilities far outstrip my own... I’ve barely know what I’m doing.. I spend a lot of time on YouTube watching the tutorials and seeing if the techniques can be applied to my lure obsession ..
  4. What kind of lure and what kind of pattern?

Not a bait... but the 3d template used to paint #7 flicker shad perch patterns.

    3d printed crankbsit

    Woohoo... looks great..
  8. With the fusion 360 modeling and the live sculpting features, it only takes about an hour, as long as you have 3 good pictures and a micrometer..
  9. It wouldn’t be too difficult... all depends on what kind of pattern you wanted..
  10. It can be done, But for that service I charge a small fee for the service.. I have done wiggle warts, s-cranks, 1.5 square bills, 2.5 square bills and DD, and I am working on some others that I am not familiar with, but they look like deep diving rapalas.. but I am not sure.

    crankbait templates

Check around your town or city. There are places called "MakerSpace" clubs, they have a variety of 3d printers, along with a bunch of other cool toys, that can be rented for a nominal fee. https://spaces.makerspace.com/ This website will have directory of any MakerSpace that may be available in your area.

    crankbait templates

yep.. wrap around the lure being painted, similar to the same concept of the plastic stencils formed with heat and a vacuum ..
  13. I have been playing with Fusion 360 for a bit and have designed a few lure bodies with the program. I have seen some cool templates printed with a 3D printer, thought I would give it a try. These are for an undefined pumpkinseed pattern. Link to gallery image: http://www.tackleunderground.com/community/gallery/image/17764-crankbait-templates/

  15. Second attempt to design a two piece body that can be printed out with a standard 3d printer. The lip is a separate file as well. If you want the STL files, PM me and I can email them to you.

    Crappie patterns

Just some basic crappie patterns. Not originals, I just follow other peoples' ideas.
  17. I have the two piece crankbait finished. I can email you the files. Is there a particular format that is easiest for you?

Or I can upload them to thingiverse again..

That and I am probably going to use some sort of tool to hold the bait steady.. what I have at the moment isn't very user friendly and freehand isn't a good idea.. thanks for the tip.. I figured a stencil was the way to go, trying to make some out of some PETG clear sheets, but they have not arrived from amazon yet.. and since I live in Alaska, these baits will head to Texas in the next few weeks, hopefully the bass will not mind the uneven lateral lines too much.. ha
  19. Has there been any interest in updating the Hardbait cookbook.. ? Redoing the old links..might be hard with finding the original pics, but maybe some of the more talented painters could follow the text directions and post new ones... if if this has already been brought up, then disregard..

Some basic shad in multiple bait styles. I still need practice on the lateral lines.
  21. That’s awesome.... glad it worked for you.
