  1. Hello, Recently I had been home sick which lead to lots of free time. Which meant I needed something to do. I found an old notebook with pictures of different flies and jigs. Typically I'd use them with a 3-way swivel (main line, a line drop with a couple sinkers, and lastly the fly). Does anyone else use these things? Typically tipped with a spawn, beads, floats, or a piece of worm. Anyway, I decided to make a video on how I make them. I am not sure if they can be called flies. Does anyone have ideas for other uses? Ways to fish them. Maybe have a small type of weight to turn them into a wet fly.
  2. I am not familiar with the steelhead snell knot. I'll have to check it out. Steelhead corks. I'll have to check my trout/salmon box to see if I have any. I dismissed them initially due to their size. I will have have to get a couple bottom bouncers or small dipsy divers and give it a try. Typically troll with the spinners in 10-foot depth and shallower. Just because more of the water I fish are smaller bodies of water with huge boulders everywhere or large weed beds. Once the water temp is 65 to 70*F then I will move to jigging smiley blades, jigs, jigging raps, or slip bobbers in 15-foot or deeper. I use these spinners primarily for finding fish IE Walleye and Sauger but catch everything else.
  3. Hellow fellow anglers, Been a while since I've been on here. My buddy asked me to make another video I thought I would share this video for creating nightcrawler harnesses. I was thinking about using floats with it but don't have any. I only pull these out when the fish slow down burying themselves in the weeds or hang tight too structure. What are your options for these harnesses in general? What would be a good way to spice them up? I've got hundreds of blades in different colors, sizes, and shapes. When do you use these spinners?
  4. Hey RedDevil, I love to use different types of spinnerbaits such as the Terminator T-1 on Canadian shield lakes for smallmouth, and big pike. I've found that perch patterns, fire tiger, or pure silver are the most universally effective. Carry a couple red and white color patterns (Daredevil Pattern). As other's have mentioned carry quality leaders. I'd recommend that you look up the stocking reports or lake surveys to figure out to see what the primary forage species are. Most importantly enjoy the trip.
  5. I'll be looking up that knot shortly. I plan to be heading up on the north shore of Lake Superior to try and get some Steelhead/Kamloops. Limp are you using this rigs at the mouth of the river or in the pools of the river within the eddies? The fact you mentioned shrimp you must be on the Pacific Coast with the really big fish. In my youth, I'd use Crawdads in the weaker current when the fish take a rest.
  6. I have used that tool in the past. Lost it while out camping 4 or 5 summers ago. Sitting in the bottom of a lake... tying knots while in heavy winds. just never replaced it. I forgot the name of it. Thanks for reminding me.
  7. Hi BLT, Nice to know for Flounder. I've caught fish jigging with these types of spinners. I'd like to see the rig you use. I might try it out for walleye or lake trout.
  8. Hey Anglina, Thanks for the welcome. I typically use a "leech rig" with all the rocks and heavy weed beds I am fishing. But I keep a stinger hook or nightcrawler harness available in my main colors. In the next video, my plan is to show how to make a 2 or 3 hook crawler harness. But I agree with you that walleye can be pesky.
  9. Hey guys, Last weekend I was going through some of my trolling spinners. My buddy has asked me why I had so many of these "harnesses" as he called them. I told him what they are then showed him how to make them. After getting a bunch more questions he asked me to create a basic video to use. I've been building variations of these spinners, strip-ons, and live bait harnesses for years. They work wonders covering lots of water to find active fish. Last summer I had caught walleye, perch, pike, musky, bullheads, different panfish species. I want to see what you guys think about it. Thanks for your time, Scott
