  1. Yes I did a test shot without glitter and I came out perfect . I know the glitter is bleeding I’m just gonna go back to smaller batches takes more time but comes out the way I want. I most likely am not keeping the glitter of the bottom of the pot and need to stir more but don’t have an extra set of hands thanks Dale
  2. Thanks and yes its the glitter white stays white without the glitter Hmmm anysuggestions im trying to do a ghost effect with black glitter but coming out with mint chocolate chip color
  3. I’m having a difficult time with getting white to stay white; pretty sure it’s operator issues any advice would be appreciated my process is pretty straight forward. I’m Using baitjunky firm mix / M&F non bleed 3309x2 white / M&F .062 Black and 5 drops of heat stabilizer my process is as follows. heat 2 cup to 350 let cool to 315 - 320 and mix 10 drops of color then glitter and transfer to a presto pot and repeat a second 2 cups then mix it all together in the presto pot. I can get 3-4 injectors full then the aqua green color starts up and get darker after each shoot you can see the difference in the colors shot right after each other . I’ve tried with another brand plastic , white and glitter and also tried mixing color first then heating and I get the same results but after one injector full. Thanks in advance Dale
  4. Thanks I appreciate the info I’m in the craw phase of learning and want to get more consistent on my mix of colors and tempeture and the pot seems to be the best option thanks again Dale
  5. Frank, I know I forgot to mix a fresh gallon recently and that cup was a wasted cup everybait was soft , sticky and tore real easy . Stupid mistake watched one of your tutorials and seen you use presto pots do you use a mixer with those or just mix by hand ?
  6. Thanks totally understand and makes sense
  7. Quick newbie question , what is meant by “ no hard packing “ seen that when ordering more plastic and curious thanks Dale
  8. J, I did that with the first gal of resin lol Each one is coming out better and better but sure did stink breaking the top half each time i went seperate the halfs UMR should be here in a couple days Thanks
  9. Thanks for the advice will pick up a can of the umr , appreciate the help have gone through allot of resin and allot of waste, I've got allot of ideas for what I want In a lure but so fare allot of work and no baits lol I didn't want just start buying things Thanks again Dale
  10. I've been trying (attempting ) to make some fiberglass 2 piece injection molds , I'm able to get the bottom half near perfect but when I pour the top I'm not able to get separated without breaking the top half Ive tried different thickness of resin, waxing with 4 -5 coats of magiurs , painting the bottom half then waxing , cutting the mold in half with a table saw worked best but was a challenge to get a cut perfect with thin portions of the bait like claws. Any suggestions techniques , release agents available would be appreciated . Dale
  11. That would be aweome thanks and I will once I get pouring with confidence!!
  12. Hey thanks everyone for the input I'm ordering everything to get started next week so in a month or so should be all setup to get started and hopefully have some cool things by the time the ice is melted and get the boat in the water. Les rod building is my next adventure too. Not that I don't have enough rods already lol 20 gal of plastics is allot of baits , I fugure once I get dialed in I should break even on plastic cost in the long run. Now if I could just figure out how to make the Stanley frog double hooks I would be a happy camper. !! Thanks again for all the input!!
  13. lol I'm factoring in allot of expierments allot of question , reading and good old patience thanks for both of your time and responses .
  14. Thanks Soutx completely understand what your saying , wish I had some windows in the pole barn I'm setting up in but that's not possible and the only entrance is the big door which in north Erin Michigan is a little cold in the winter to leave the door open as I only heat the barn with wood. I do hope to expand as my capabilities , techniques and knowledge grows to produce more along with a few projects I've wanted to try for years . How big was your learning curve when u first started ?
  15. Hey everyone , thanks for the wealth of information here and to everyone who contributes. I've been studying about making soft plastics for awhile lurking here and many other sites and couldn't find an answer to a couple questions I would appreciate some input as I start setting up my area to produce some plastics I use almost everyday since I'm retired and do fish allot . I'm mainly doing frogs , creatures and ice fishing plastics . 1 . The most important question to me right now is , how concerned with cross contamination is everyone when pouring in their garage where misc oils , chainsaws , tools snowblower and the like are stored .? 2. As I setup my area for this I am starting with 4 of 2 cavity molds and hope to make a between 24 and 48 baits every couple weeks how much space would be appropriate for accomplishing that workbench wise ? This area will be solely dedicated to making baits , learning experimenting etc etc .. 3. For ventilation I was thinking of using a stove top range hood vented to the outside has anyone done that , what is anyone thoughts on that would it be sufficient ventilation ? Thanks in advance I appreciate any thoughts and advice on setting up the area Dale
