  1. Welcome. I got started in alumalites vac 50 system. Good luck to you!
  2. First, those colors look awesome so thank you for sharing. Second , I wonder if you could run what cami suggested through a coffee grinder as a quick a d dirty solution?
  3. Whoa! That's a serious worm. I have heard of people taking stripers on them, what are you targeting? Worms look great by the way!
  4. That sounds awesome - can you share some pictures?
  5. This is what that was made on if it helps.

    hand dipped shrimp

What type of plastic did you use (soft, med, hard) your cuts look nice.
  7. Good timing - I designed one of those the other week. You are talking kokanee squids right? Use a mold with a center pin coming up from the bottom. Just use the offset feature for the thickness of squid you want on a revolved cut in solidworks. I have see them hand dipped as well. Let me know if you have more questions *edit to be more helpful
  8. This is art. Incredible.
  9. This is great info, thanks for sharing. I have been looking for a DOE or similar relating final properties to main ingredients. This covers that well. I have been looking for a good solvent for dies. Currently using soybean oil and linseed oil.
  10. Saw someone talking about this on a different site, but all the photo links were busted. I swap out skirts / tails by melting a small amount and sticking them together.
  11. well - here is my best attempt to date. I still lack the skills fringe has in his open pour swim baits.. I am getting closer, though.
  12. I don't know of one - but thanks for posting this - I was thinking my grub needed some more tail action after fishing it today. Might have to draw something up like this in solidworks.
  13. So true - Surfacing is a whole other animal compared to solid modeling - Slowly, I am getting there.
  14. seems like it has good surfacing capabilities.
  15. Hey what CAD program is that - doesnt look like pro e or solidworks.
  16. Funny story about that - I was showing my wife the support matrix on one of the prints, while I was carefully snipping it away, she said "on cool can I see" and *RIPPPPPPPPPPPP* tore the whole matrix clean off. That was the last time I ever used snippers to remove the matrix. It does leave tiny areas where it was connected, but haven't had any other issue and just rip it off. Not sure how I would handle it if the support piece was on the detailed side.
  17. I see what you are saying, I am thinking I will order one of these metal syringes: https://www.walmart.com/ip/BDEALS-Wax-Removal-Ear-Syringe2oz-Stainless-Steel-Surgical-Veterinary-Instrument/193787472?wmlspartner=wlpa&selectedSellerId=3135&adid=22222222227054040257&wmlspartner=wmtlabs&wl0=&wl1=g&wl2=c&wl3=154934396101&wl4=pla-267205369388&wl5=9029747&wl6=&wl7=&wl8=&wl9=pla&wl10=113500222&wl11=online&wl12=193787472&wl13=&veh=sem That way I can add a little at a time, and roll the open pour mold back and fourth to create those types of stripes. Great target to aim for!
  18. Stereolithography - Another form of 3d printing. Uses light to cure a resin as opposed to FDM (Fused Deposition Method) which is extruding plastic layer by layer through a nozzle.
  19. Recently saw a video where they did that to set the eyes in place. Will have to give it a try. I think I am going to ask my machinist if he can make me a smaller "detailed" injector for doing perch stripes and the like. Been thinking about how great those look all day.
  20. I will have to give the kbs a try. I have ways used west marine 2 part epoxy to smooth fdm 3d printed molds. So happy I got my sla machine, no more post processing. Love it.
  21. Made these with that .stl file i gave you the other day. Still could be thinner, probably too fat. I getting better at dipping, though.
  22. What is really interesting is on the gizzard shad the whole thing is covered in clear. Like a core shot or somthing. Definitally very cool.
