  1. Interesting... I've always called a muddy brown with light orange tail (tube) to be a Bruise. I wish I had a dictionary that housed the color combinations for lure making. Following..
  2. I just use a paper towel as I go, wiping excess oil each go round. I always clean my molds prior to their use and when I'm finished I hit them with a silicon spray for storage. I find that when I get them back out the silicon spray has pooled and brings residual colors out from the tiny crevasses in the aluminum molds.
  3. I have been using HazardDiscs from Golden Grub High-temp glitter I found through Ebay. Have made hundreds of lures this year and this glitter has not folded, flashed, smoked or bled due to the heat. The glitter shines very well and I'm very pleased with their product and will continue to purchase from them. Even after multiple heat ups, mixes and random plastic batches the glitter still looks GREAT!.
  4. Do you hand paint/color the lures, or do you use a dual injector?
  5. Nice! I think I will try this myself. Great tip!
  6. Anyone else curious what has happened to the leader-boards? Where did the links go?
  7. Awesome! I just got my setup for tail splitting working like an engine. It's amazing to me that in 2018 there isn't a standard, go to product for this reason given the popularity for making soft plastics. Sure lurecraft has one but not everyone wants to drop $140 for a press that only does one thing. How long would you say your blades last? Additionally, what kind of oil are you using (if any) on your blades?
  8. Thanks for the tip! Where can I place a small order for them? I would like to try them out!
  9. And how does the flow of the current influence that drop...
  10. I think this is such a great question. To a newbie like myself, I sit here thinking that the way I rig my bass tubes the amount of salt shouldn't matter because the bait will fail with the weight of the jighead and not the density of the tube. Anyone else able to elaborate?
  11. So I measured the eye last night. I came up with 1/4 inch from the front of the eye to the back. Would you recommend getting a size smaller? Do you have flat ones?
  12. Just shot a little batch of these guys. Royal Blue and Yellow Gold glitter. Green pumpkin base.
  13. Is it possible that the creator pulled black then orange then black plastic ETC. alternating until their injector was full and shot it into a mold?
  14. Did you make these? What mold did you use?
  15. I've been using oil on my tubes to keep the tails from sticking. Does salt work better?
  16. How did you create this pattern? Did you get two different colors of plastic ready and pull them up into the injector, alternating colors until it was full and then shot into a mold? I don't care how well they fish, they def. are easy on the eyes!
  17. Excellent picture for reference. Any guess on the size I need for the bait I've pictured above?
  18. I recently have been trying my hand at shooting swimbaits. So far, its going okay. I noticed my mold allows for eyes to be placed on the soft plastic after it has dried and this is not something I've ever messed with as a fisherman in general. What are some of your thoughts on using lure eyes for swimbaits/flukes/creatures? Is there a 'best practice'? Does it really help? How durable will they be? Do you prefer adhesive or glue? Do you clear coat your bait once you've finished? Any other thoughts in general in this arena? Regards, Bronzeback Cowboy
  19. To your point about having additional rods, I think that's a really interesting concept! I keep seeing rods for sale and I wonder to myself how anyone would use them for anything other than if they had lost an original rod or maybe somehow broke one. Thanks for the tip! I'm new to this game. There so much to learn!
  20. I use the oil to lubricate the inside of the mold and the shanks that go inside. It helps the tubes pull off the shanks much better. Functionality wise, its a must have for me, I just personally am getting tired of the worm smell and would rather use something non-scented. Wasn't sure if anyone had any ideas on various brands...
  21. Question 1) 2.75 inch tubes are my personal favorite when it comes to shooting soft plastics. Currently I have a 5 cavity aluminum mold that is doing an excellent job every single time. That being said, I want to make more, faster. Of course I can purchase another mold that has 5 cavities however, I am wondering if anyone might know of anyone who makes larger capacity molds? Question 2) I have been using worm oil to lubricate my molds prior to use and it is working well. The kind I purchased has a golden glitter in it which I dislike, and intend to switch to a different lubricating oil that is easy to work with. Does anyone have recommendations? Is there any lubrication out there that are scent free? Kind Regards,
