The knippex only use is that. They actually don’t dull out for quite a while. The Xuron isn’t big enough. I’m cutting lots of 1-4 oz jigheads

I’ve been using a knippex soft metal flush cutting tool to cut sprues off jigs. Anyone else have any tips on a clean, flush cut for this type of job? The knippex do pretty well until they dull out.

Do you know if this is the only place to buy this stuff? I used to get plastic from Calhouns plastic (a guy Jeff ) and when they changed formula it fukt everything up and he stopped selling. Until now seeing it on FGF, this is the first I’m hearing of it in about 2 years.

I haven’t tried lureworks. Do you know if their hard or saltwater formula heats up well in the microwave? IE no scorching or micro bubbles.

I’m pretty sure that is referring to the molds. I got a response that it either shipped today or will tomorrow.

FGF has plastisol for sale advertised as Calhouns OG blend. Has anyone used this stuff and can verify? Also, if you have, what kind of timing is the shipping? I ordered a gallon to try out last week and it hasn’t been fulfilled yet.

I wondered that. I haven’t really been able to try it out yet with 342 but the 312 did that years ago when I used it. Baits would dull out and worse off they’d get really oily over time. That’s why I stopped using it. The 343 seems to hold up stored without getting oily but like we’ve said, dulls out quickly and it cures somewhat tacky/stick to the touch. Definitely better than oily but I prefer a neutral to the touch cured feeling. I’m curious if heating it up initially to 365-380 would bypass the issues. I’m not a PVC dispersion tech but I suspect some sort of compound/additive would change seal the feel of the cure neutral. I say this because when I mix 342 with plastic that cures neutral and smooth, then the final mix cures correctly.

I’ve experienced this issue with 2 different bait plastic’s formula’s multiple time. Ironically I’ve discovered that bait plastic’s remelts actually set up cleaner and more consistent, ie. no dulling a day or 2 later.

I’ve mixed multiple brands of liquid plastic together and haven’t had issues.

I’ve had quite a bit of hiccups with LPO and Lurecraft. It’s definitely disingenuous to offer one thing BUT!!! Handling is a joke, the costing of material should include all costs incurred prior to the sale. Shipping is separate and either charge it or don’t. That $2 is a low caliber insult valued to be more principle than $2 could ever buy.

Possibly. I was sent an (unnamed) de-foaming agent from supplier to use while I sent a pint for them to test. If I don’t get cooperating results, I’ll name drop the company.

Yes! Huge nightmare in the middle of the season. I sent a pint back for some testing and now I’m waiting out that response. It’s so bad that if they don’t take care of me, I’m willing to pay the freight to send back what’s left to get a refund at least on the product. Just happens to be some of the most expensive stuff that’s out there.

It’s definitely nothing I’ve ever seen before either. I don’t know about the science and chemistry of PVC but I’ve been through this enough to know that something is off with the batch.

I think if it were humidity, then it would happen immediately.

I tend to pour a lot of 4” basic swim baits rigged with standard swim bait jig heads. They are molds I’ve made from designs I’ve created. They are not applicable to weedless rigging, though at some point I plan to design a 5-6” weedless bait.

I’m having an issue with gas/bubble releasing 15-25 minutes after plastic has been heated to temp and set up. It’s in a heated dipping tank after being heated to temp in microwave. I’ve been flawlessly using these procedures for years, haven’t changed anything and now suddenly with a 50 gallon batch I purchased, I’m getting this issue almost every time. It’s not the same thing as when plastic releases bubbles upon heating in the microwave like some plastics do. It’s happening 15+ minutes after it has set up and is at temp. It has happened at times before anything has been added (glitter, pigment, etc) and I’ve ruled myself out as the culprit to somehow introducing moisture to the mix. I have never run into this issue EVER and now it’s consistent with the product coming from this 50 gallons. Has anyone ever had an issue like this?

I’ve had issues with shelf life/back stock with Bait Plastics. Really oily baits and oxidation of the jigheads inside of tubes. Can anyone speak to this? It’s been years since I used their saltwater blend but I’m going to try the low odor saltwater blend to see

If you’re really concerned about staying clear through reheats, I’d consider Lurecraft plastic. It’s more expensive but you’re getting what you pay for. That stuff doesn’t yellow easily.
