  1. Hi Guys, When I started designing molds several years ago I use to design them with what I thought they should look like, and I quickly found out that it's best to ask the people that actually use them. otherwise I found myself spending all that time on design only to later make a bunch of changes to the mold that should have been there from the start. That was my intentions here. The great suggestion that Comrad made for the tail connection got implemented into the final design. I probably should not have put the link in the post, but I wanted to avoid going through the whole process of folks direct messaging me because I don't keep up on checking these as often as I should. I attempted to edit the post on Sunday to remove the link, but it won't let me remove the link, so I deleted that section of the post and the pictures of the finished mold. Thanks, Kent
  2. Thanks for your feedback... This mold does have a lot of tight corners which results in a lot of machining time. This mold takes about 2 1/2 hours to machine and it takes 18 separate end mill tools.. so its kind of a spending process. You asked about the CNC mill I'm using. For this mold I'm using a Haas DM-2 with a 15,000 RPM spindle motor. The machine weights around 5,000 LB I've been really happy with the machine.
  3. Thank You Apdriver... On that note, would you recommend me adding that word "finesse" to my description on my website listing? I was struggling a bit as far as the proper name for this worm mold. Thanks, Kent
  4. Thanks guys... Yes, I agree Comrad on that tail connection point.... I'll do some work on that.. The outside diameter of each ring is .28" So maybe 2 or 3 rings on the tail connection that are in the .18" OD which should allow enough material to wrap around it.. Is this kind of what you had in mind? ( see pic below )
  5. I'm working on a new 4 1/2 inch worm mold that I will be machining and offering for sale on our site and wanted to get some input on suggested changes. ( see attached drawing screen shot ) The diameter of the worm body will be just a tad over 1/4" ( .28" to be exact ) In this mold I'm going to include a second port for making just the tail sections. ( good idea.... or bad? ) Thanks for any input or suggested changes.... Thanks, Kent Lakeside Molds Nisswa, MN www.lakesidemolds.com
  6. Thank You very much ! Yes, I need to jump onto these boards more often.... I always find that I come away learning something new for sure...
  7. Hello, We just came out with a new 3 inch Goby Minnow mold. It's a 5 cavity. The side fins have the option of adding in a different color if you choose to for nice effect. Simply drizzle in some material into that section of the mold and then it will blend in really nice with the main color. Here is the link to the product page: https://aerbzf-hp.myshopify.com/products/3-inch-realistic-goby-minnow-soft-bait-mold Thanks, Kent Lakeside Molds Nisswa, MN
