  1. If it works it works! Thanks for the info
  2. Wouldn’t it be 1/16” O.D. Tubing for the 1/8oz jig weed guard pin? Or am I thinking wrong?
  3. Ok.. then what are you guys using for a base pin??? Or to put in the mold in place for the weed guard hole???

  7. Thanks everyone. Good information. That’s what I was asking for your opinions from those who have tried them. Always good information

  9. Yeah. That’s what is was curious about. I like the 1/4. I just wondered what kind of movement I’d get out of the 1/8.
  10. Have you used either? Which do you prefer?
  11. Hey, I’ve only really ever used the 1/4 and 3/8 oz cavities on my poison tail mold. I’m always trying different things and seen it says an F-12 fiber weed guard for the 1/8oz.?? I looked at “an online store” seen they have f12’s but then it has another selection drop box that say 0.018 or 0.024”.?? What is the difference? I’m just trying to figure out which one would go with the 1/8 oz poison tail if I wanted to try it??? Thanks
  12. Yes, I’m starting to see that with this batch. It isn’t real bad. I’ll probably just add a bar of softer lead to it and see how that does.
  13. That’s cool. I’ve loved bass fishing for over 30 years of my life. I’ve been tying for about 8 years plus or minus. I like the artistic part of being able to tie colors that others don’t have and to test them out as I fish for bass. So it’s a win. I use glue sometimes. I’m assuming you don’t because it damages some of the silicone or rubber? I know it does rubber. Your knot looks small and clean. I do kinda the same knot a whip finisher does but I do it with my hand and fingers. Is that like the overhand knot you are talking about? I’ve never had one fail. Your jigs look nice.
  14. Good point! I’ve tied the umbrella style skirt before for swim jigs.
  15. No. I hand tie my skirts. But that is not a bad idea at all. Thanks
  16. I am set on trying to figure out how to get that reverse flat head screw looking skirt collar shape. I have a question or a challenge. I pour my own jigs and modify my molds as well. I’ve been trying to come up with a way to get a bigger flat head screw type skirt collar on one of the old molds that has the small ball skirt collar. I like the way the bigger taller skirt collar helps the skirt puff out more. I’ve used a Dremel and made the older ball style collar bigger before. Just curious about making the reverse flat head screw skirt keeper (that’s the best way I know to describe it.) I have some ideas but have not dove into it yet completely yet. Any big thoughts on how to do this without totally screwing up my mold?
  17. Ive modified several of my molds. Like the high temp gasket maker, dremel drop out, and use hot lead. Im just worried about pouring the older molds that have a ball type skirt collar if i can get it to fill properly. Like the older arkie or sparky and some old spinnerbait ones. Just worried If I add the wire keeper is wont fill right. But I guess you’re right, just like the other molds I done, i just need to try it and see how it does. I don’t know why this bothers me more than the other mods I’ve done. I’ve done mods to make my own spinnerbait mold and other dremel mods. I just didnt want to try the wire keeper and then not like it and have to deal with flashing I guess. There are one or two of my older molds that i still have some trouble with even with all the tricks and getting the mold and lead hot.
  18. That looks good! I know some of the tricks of it. Ive modified several of my molds. Like the high temp gasket maker, drop out, hot lead. Im just worried about pouring the older molds that have a ball type skirt collar if i can get it to fill properly. Like the older arkie or sparky and some old spinnerbait ones.
  19. I’ve watched those before when they came out. Im always interested in what ideas other people come up with. I have an engineers mind. Always trying to figure out how things work or how to make something work better. It might be a curse at times. LOL. Thanks for sharing the vids.
  20. Also, thanks Cadman! I had thought about doing that to one of my other molds that I have some trouble with. Not sure why they have them on some mold designs and not others
  21. Like a small Chanel air Chanel like some of the molds have?
  22. Ok.. I’m one of those. Wonder if I can make something better kinda people sometimes. Which is dangerous and I’d like to say I think I learned to know when not to. With that being said I’ve modified several of my molds. THE REAL QUESTION is— I see videos of people who modify or add a wire keeper to some of there molds that don’t have one. I’m asking you great people who pour your own- does it cause pouring issues as far as getting a full mold cavity fill??? For years I’ve modified ones that I wanted to have a wire keeper by tying it straight to the shank after it is poured and painted. Then super gluing the threads. It is affective, however takes time. Which I don’t have much. So, I’d like to hear your feedback. Is it worth trying to pour with adding a wire keeper to my mold or will I just get frustrated with the amount that don’t fully pour??
  23. Yes, it was fun. And neat to see what other people came up with. It is truly an art. That is why I enjoy it so much.
