  1. Thanks for replying. LOL! I’m thinking I may have possibly at some point bought jigs off you many years ago when I first started learning to make and tie my own.
  2. Awesome!!! Thanks for the replies guys! I was making my version of “the bladed jig” and swim jigs and happen to have the heat cranked up for spinnerbaits. It was mixed with my soft lead. But the way it reacted when I cut the sprew (not sure how to spell it, but you know what I’m talking about). Went to cut the sprew off, it cut some then just kind of popped off. It worked, just different consistency of lead. I might throw some more soft lead into it. Thanks
  3. Ok. I’m not new here and I’m not new to pouring my own baits. However, in my collection of what all suppose to be soft lead…. I grabbed a bar and put into the melting pot and poured some jigs. I went to cut the spures off and it almost popped off halfway through the cut. It felt different than cutting through most my soft lead I’ve poured. I shrugged it off and continued. When I went to cut off some of the keeper collar off the lead just kind of popped off or broke halfway through the cut. So….. is the lead hard lead????? Something else? Is it ok to continue to pour with what I have in the melting pot?
  4. I’m looking for the best underspin mold for River smallmouth??? I’m hoping it would be versatile enough for spotted bass and smaller largemouth. I would appreciate any help and knowledge. Thank you
  5. Awesome!!!! Thank you. I didn’t know anyone did that. The closest I’ve seen was the Keitech color skirts. I’m waiting for them to arrive to see what they look like in person. Judging off the online pictures some are close but not exactly what I’m looking for. I hate when I come up with a pattern and certain colors in my head but can’t find the colors I need. Thanks for the reply.
  6. I used to get a good bit of replies on this site. I tried to be specific on the colors I was looking for. The closest I could come to the descriptions of colors I listed was a couple specialty colors at LPO. I’ll have to wait to see what they look like when they come in. I’m not new to this. I have about every color you can think of but nothing quite matching what I listed. I appreciate any knowledge or Information that someone could send my way if they know of anything that matching the descriptions. Most of the colors should be slightly transparent.
  7. Hello again, I have a pattern or two in my head that I want to create.it’s bugging me. However…. Out of my collection of colors that I own and from what I have seen at some stores, I can not find these below listed colors. If you read these that I describe and know of a company/store and the name of the color, please reply and send me the information so I can find it. -a transparent light colored faded muted chartreuse (more clear than chartreuse)with (a little, not heavy) gold gold glitter. -A more transparent smoke color with blue and very light chartreuse glimmer. - maybe a backbone blue (smoke with blue glimmer)with purple glitter. Please help!!!! Thank you for your time.
  8. I poured the 3/0 in 3/8 and the 4/0 in the both in the owner zo wire flipping hook back when I posted the question. I just had to know if it would work. I knew the hook gap was wider. I had a couple that didn’t 100 percent fill the mold at the collar area but for my use I could still tie and use them. They filled about 95 percent. I’m going to play with trying to heat the hooks a little my next pour along with all the other tricks and see if it makes a difference.
  9. Hey, I seen your New video on the Grass jig. It looked like you were able to get a full good pour on yours. The ones I’ve done are not 100 percent full but are full enough for me to tie and be happy with. Did you do anything different other than filing down the post some?
  10. Thank you so much!!! That was a very informative and detailed answer. I very much appreciate that. I’ve modified some of my other molds. But I was just wanting to make sure I wasn’t missing something. I go back and forth of wether I like the wire or lead keepers. I like the bottom lead keeper on the hybrid grass jig (I cut off the top one) but don’t like some of the other lead keepers. I like the bigger skirt collar so it flairs out the inner layer of skirt material.
  11. Ok.. So, I’ve looked and looked at different molds out there. I am going to use the poison tail mold as a reference. My question is… how are there different versions of the poison tail out there but to my knowledge you can only buy two different poison tail molds? Barlow’s has a version called spit jig with round bend hook that I like the collar and bait keeper better than the mold that I can buy. There is also a person who makes one similar with a wire keeper. So is Barlow’s spit jig a special mold that they collaborated with Do-it to only have it exclusively there? I’d rather pour my own jigs. But I do like the collar and keepers on those two versions.
  12. Yes!!!! That’s what I’m talking about. I would also buy it. Thanks for the replies. I need to figure out how to add some pictures.
  13. Ok. Good info. I knew the marble and vein paint existed. I just didn’t know if the color combos I liked existed anywhere. I check all the stores that most of us shop for our powder paints. Right now I do a full base coat dip. Then sprinkle on whatever other color because I want the base coat to still show up a little. I like the look of the paints like the vein and marble. I just didn’t know if there was any new powder paints with a marble, veins, or dot effect with the brown and tan or orange, green and orange, or brown and orange. I’ve looked at do-it, Barlow’s, Jane’s net craft, lure parts online, skirts unlimited, and most of the other stores we all check. I was curious if anyone heard or seen of a color or paint anything close to what I mentioned a couple sentences up from here. Thanks for the replies.

  16. I was just trying to see if there was such a two tone color as in like a camo. You know how they have green with black spots or texture. Just trying to see if someone made a brown with green or orange spots?
  17. With all the paints available today. I am stuck trying to tie a color pattern I have in my head. LOL! You know what I’m talking about. However, I’ve been using powder paint using regular light pumpkin as a base coat then reheating and sprinkling a light watermelon or green pumpkin on to break up the color and match the jig. Is there a paint that is actually already pumpkin(light brown) and green that I could buy and cut it down to a one step process?
  18. Very true. I use the Zoom sand from fishing skirts.com a lot. I was just curious if I was over looking a brand or website that might have a plain sand color like a tanish skin tone like sand.
  19. I own a lot of jig skirt material. A couple medium storage boxes full. I like the zoom sand color for some things. However, I don’t care for the glitter. Does anyone know if there is a sand color that is like that but without the glitter?
  20. That’s what I’m trying to figure out. We have small sauger and some walleye. The walleye are mainly smaller but the occasional larger one. I don’t like the store bought jigheads nor the hooks in them. I just started pouring my own bass jigs this last year because of that. I was looking for a good happy medium hook as far as size. I was leaning 2/0 or 3/0 and use small 3-4” twirl tail grubs and paddle tail minnows. I’ve also considered trying to use the 2/0 or 3/0 in one of my other molds to see if it would work. Still up for suggestions.
  21. I really like that jighead. Is that the do-it mold swimbait mold?
  22. My question is….. If you pour your own jig heads to put 3-3.5” curl tail or paddle tail on for sauger and Walleye. What hook size would you go with??????? When I was younger I’d just buy whatever I could find jighead wise and go during the fall and winter months. But now I’d like to make a couple of my own jig heads with better hooks. I’d like to know some of your opinions.
  23. Thanks guys. I really appreciate the help and knowledge.
  24. Thank you very much! You sold me on it. LOL! I’ll give that mold a try.
