  1. I would do the quick wash, let them dry, stick them in a baggie and use them whenever. When you get them out to use, gets them out of the freezer, tie what you want and pop them back in the freezer. If you decide to debone them, take out the tail bone, scape the fat off and cover the remaining skin with borax or salt. When you get them out to use, the borax stays on a bit better and doesn't make quite the mess. You can just stick them back in the freezer and get them out long enough to use and pop them back in. Don't have to let them thaw when you use them, just take them out while you are tying, use what you need and back to the freezer. Don't want them to start stinking. ARne.
  2. Was helping with some siding over the weekend. Picked up a few scraps, will give them a try over the winter. Thanks for the replies. Arne.
  3. Has anybody tried this stuff. THought I would ask before I tried it. Have used different materials and most of them work, but need different ones for different colors, maybe even just different brands. I know it is made to stop air flow but with pressure thought it might let enough air thru. It will also allow moisture to go thru it so guess will find out about the air also. Thanks in advance, Arne.
  4. I chatted with him early summer or late spring. Think he was fine then. Said he hadn't been out in the shop working much. Arne.
  5. Not exactly sure what you are doing, but if you have some old lead core line you can strip the lead out of it. It will wrapeasily around a hook. Little super glue with it and should be set. Arne.

    Flutter Jig Mold with Parts

Do you still have this mold? If so I am interested. Thanks, Arne.
  7. I have never made one, but if you scroll down to member tutorials then to soft plastics they have quite a few ideas for making the molds. Arne.
  8. Well welcome back. I was not around here back when you were. So pull up a chair and stay a while. Arne.
  9. Also if you have some old lead core line laying around can strip the lead out of it. Nice long strip of lead to wrap around things. Arne.

    J B Weld

Maybe a dremel with a really small rounded bit. Be careful, use eye protection and maybe a dust mask. Arne.

    Chrome powder

The chrome looks really nice. Directions say not uv stable. Added a clear powder over it and takes a bunch of the shine away. Directions also say put a clear on if exposed to uv. So will make some up, wait til summer, take em out on the boat and leave them exposed. See how they hold up. Am thinking they will probably be alright if you keep them in a box til ready to use them. Then see how the ones I use stand up to sitting out afterwards. They tend to get left out when changing lures, sit on the dash of the pontoon til the next time I need one. Will try to remember to post how they work out. Will probably be in Aug. or later. Arne.

    Chrome powder

Anybody know of a chrome powder paint that comes out nice and bright. Have found a few and wondering if they come out shiny or dull like most of the chrome spray paints. Have found a few that say you have to put a clear over them and if you clear them will they still stay bright. Some of the spray paints come out pretty good then if you clear them they dull right up. Thanks in advance, Arne.
  15. Great video. Proably going to have folks bothering you wanting their lures changed. Good job. Arne.
  16. Pheasants are done for this year. Will probably be able to get some next year if anybody needs them. Arne.

    Horse head jigs

That is what I was wondering. Most all of them I have looked at used a swivel.. Course now have the better part of a hundred of them have to put a swivel on the wire that is coming out of the horses mouth. No big deal, just trying to get by cheap. Arne.
  22. Been using a do it mold to pour some horse head jigs. Supposed to use crane swivels to attach a spinner blade. Does the blade have to be attached with a swivel or can you just use a wire with an eye in it and attach the blade with a split ring? Does either way affect the action much. Been checking them in the bath tub. No open water rite now. They seem to be ok in the tub but not enough room to get them to go fast and see if it makes them roll or something. Arne.
  23. Pour a set of weights from the mold and weigh them. Easy way to find out and then you know for sure what they weigh. Arne.
  24. BTW bought a pair and they work great. Arne.
  25. Harbor freight has them. Think they were $4 last fall. Arne.
