  1. Sometimes we have to experience things to find out why that lightbulb didn't work. I found that if you take a clean plastic pocket comb and use the larger end first and the smaller next, the strands of skirt making material will separate. Tip of the day.
  2. Welcome. You are right. I grew up in east Texas and lived in Alex, La. I have seen thousands of crawfish of every seasonal color. They walk forward and scoot backwards. Great bait and great for a Cajun meal.
  3. Thank you. I really had to think about this one.

    Love the action...very real.
  5. Yes, I have and also noted that the shrimp are the same way.

Amazing work. How long did it take to make it?
  7. I've been using Gorilla Super Glue Gel and it works very well for me, but I use enamels.
  8. Kerr Lake in North Carolina has an abundance of Gizzard Shad and my tournament friend is going pretty soon.  I know he doesn't have a Gizzard Shad spinnerbait, so I'm building a couple for him.  Recipe included and pic attached on completion with glass beads and blades.  Coming soon...

    Kerr's Gizzard Shad

6  Strands Solid Black (must be gathered at the crest with no mixture)

2 Tabs Clear Silver Neon (center)

1 Tab Glimmer Blue Satin Shad (last)

I put a paint black dot with a finishing nail head on the head and then the clear/black eyes.

I hope he has an opportunity to use them.

I built it based on a photo online.

Here's the Gizzard Shad I came up with.

  9. I have been using your tip and you're right it worked. Thank you.
  10. Has anyone fished Lake Anna in Virginia?  I need to know what baits to use.

  11. Are there any Potomac River or Rappahannock River fishermen that are members?

  12. Great tip. I heard that some builders use a comb, but I don't know what kind of comb.
  13. Hi Jeff, I have a friend that's a Virginia tournament bass fisherman and he uses jigs and spinnerbaits. I told him I was making baits and he was interested and wanted to see them. I took about 50 to his office and he seemed pretty impressed. He laid four jigs out and asked if I could mock them. He wanted 10 of each, if I could do it. He also asked me if I could make certain spinnerbaits, so I showed him those too. He had four designs and wanted 5 of each. I wasn't under pressure to make them and made sure I had the right materials. I let him "test drive" some for me and let me know the results. The bonus for me is that he offers me productive fishing trips.

These are really nice....though somewhat unusual. I like them. Colors are great; very realistic. I'd like to know how you made them. Tight lines.
  15. Nice to have another fellow outdoorsman on board. Welcome.
