Hello all, I need help with my baits done in a aluminum custom mold. The mold has 6 cavities and all the baits when they are injected have air bubbles in the rib. I've tried everything but I can't get rid of these bubbles. I use a vacuum pump, suck up the plastic and then turn the injector upright to eject a small amount, etc etc. Can someone help me? Thanks

Hey everyone, I recently bought a top injection mold from Basstackle and have been shooting with Bait Junkies, now Bait Plastics' hard formula. I cannot for the life of me get a bait to shoot without there being air bubbles at the top/head of the bait. It's infuriating! I haven't violently stirred the plastisol or sucked up any air while pulling plastisol into the injector, but it happens nearly every time I inject. The reason I know I'm not doing this is because I have another, side inject mold from a different company that shoot perfectly every time. I've tried purging the injector prior to shooting and that didn't work. Anyone have another idea on how to fix this issue? Is it the mold sprue that is the problem. I can't help but notice that the side injection mold that shoots perfectly has a wide sprue opening where it meets the body of the lure, whereas the Basstackle top inject mold has a very narrow sprue-body connection. Could air be getting trapped at that choke point and not be allowed to escape? Any advice you have would be greatly appreciated. Thanks for your time and help.

Hey guys, I have been making jigs for a little while now and started getting that down and wanted to expand into making soft plastic baits. I started off with just getting bass tackles starter kit, I've watched a lot of videos on shooting plastics and read up a lot. I'm having a problem with when I shoot the bait and pull it after its set up a bit there are air pockets in the rib on the bait but only on the top. I got the 3.5 BT bomb and it's a side injection mold. I've tried pouring the plastic into the injector, sucking up the plastic, and the rate at which I inject. I always top off the spur but I always have the air bubbles in the same place. Can anyone lend me some advice as to what the issue might be? It would be a great help. Thank you guys very much!!

Hi all, In the past I tried some of this stuff (feather lite) yet the results were pretty good I hade some issues with the bubbles on the surface, I was expecting a clear result but it seems there is a reaction between the components because the mixture expands a little bit (by far less than foam) which I think involves some heat resulting in air traped bubbles (don't know if this happens inside the body as well) So for obtaining a shiny surface I am considering the following things: - the room temperature, I don't remember if it was the one indicated in the tehnical buletin - pressure casting - can someone help me on this...how it is done? - vibrating table - I think maybe putting the mold on such a table may cause the bubbles to rise Any other ideas might help, please feel free to share them P.S. vodkaman hope you are still around
