  1. Hi all, I've been reading a ton on this forum and found so much helpful information, thank you all. I've made a few cranks based on others designs (Paul Adams Phox Minnow and one other), and they turned out great. I've designed my first simple shad style bait and it swims with a very "tight" action. It's made from basswood and weighted with lead split shot sinkers (size 7 in front of hook hanger and 3/0 behind). I want to give my next iteration more "roll" and a "wider" swimming action. I've attached a picture and the current design drawing. Can anyone give me their intuition on how to do this? I think that a wider lip should help give it a wider swim, also I could maybe make the body wider as well. I'm only guessing though as I have very little experience. thanks, Harrison
  2. So I have been playing with Paul Adams Phox minnow I like the profile but I want to upscale it. Since it is based off of ¼” balsa, I thought to base the up scaled version on 3/8” and just run the plans over the photo copier with a 50% increase. I don’t want a third hook hanger if I can get away with it But I would expect the addition would not be too hard. I’ll be using the same ¼” lead wire for ballast so I know there will be some mucking about there. But Is that possible or are there issue that don’t scale linearly. I would think down sizing would be trickier I would love to make some #3 a or #5 rapala classic minnow sized.
  3. Hey guys and gals, there are some awsome lure makers on this site, and I suspect that many of you designers would love to get your lures into mass production. Here is your chance. See the link below to enter your designs for a chance to do just that, at no cost to you. http://www.makelure.com/BuildOff.cfm Of course, you will need to compete against me, but the rules are clear. Good luck, and good designing.
