Hello I think I have found a good way to put screw eyes in a cast mold but I don't think it will work because of the threads on the screw eyes... I was going to jb weld a nut on to the end of a screw eye and then cast it into a mold but I don't think the threads are the same.and I was thinking about using something like the second pic but I don't know if they make them that small. Any ideas? or am I over thinking it I don't want my eyes to fall out haha.

Hello TU Forum, This morning after learning about this Forum, I subscribed right away. A friend from Germany told me about it. Well, I live in Lima-Peru. Like many of you friends, fishing is my passion, but life is tough and I can escape for fishing as much as I want. Then, I had to create alternatives to satisfy my passion for fishing. Today, I split into three parts my love for fishing: 1) escape for fishing; 2) Do my own homemade lures; and 3) Collecting lures…Let me tell you a little more of each one. Escape for fishing, I like to go for saltwater and freshwater fishing. First Saltwater, I practice surfcasting most part of the year, from the shore line with the waves up to my waist or chest. Also, in summer time I do some trolling next to my beach house. I like to fish Corvinas, Flounder, Groupers, etc. Second in freshwater, during winter time I like to go to up to the highlands looking for some trouts. Do my own homemade lures. I like a lot to do this. Probably I am the only one who do what I do in Lima. This complementary activity has turned into one of my favorites hobbies. I began doing my own flies and suddenly I start doing lures, and since two years ago my own wooden lures. In addition to this, I began to develop my Youtube channel (find me as ANTONIO999US) where I post videos to show my work, my projects, my lures collections, and my fishing activities. Collecting lures, in my fishing life I bought different brands of hard lures. Bomber, Rapala, Storm, Mirrorlure, Yo-zuri, DUO, Daiwa, Shimano, Megabass, etc. Actually I do not know how many plugs do I have. Given that always I take care of my lures (I wash and rinse every single lure that I use after coming back from fishing) I still have lures when I began fishing... along the time, I was using different brands, now I stay with Japanese Duo and Daiwa, which are excellent plugs for the kind of fishing that I practice. I do not have an introduction video in my channel, that something I have to work with, but I would like to share this one, where I show my first dozen of wooden lures I made. At this time, I want to tell you that I named all my lures ATTILA, because I always admired Attila the Hun as a warrior of the ancient times of Europe. "These plugs are the Attila Fat Minnow" Something I would like to say is that each Attila Fat Minnow is one of a kind wooden plug, because I made them with my hands and it is impossible to do two exact ones... Also, I numbered each wooden plug I make. The Attila Fat Minnow is a wooden plug with these characteristics: - 4.5" long - Weights around 1oz each, - Weight shifting system, - Two Japanese saltwater treble hooks #01 - Shocking colours - Reflective holograms - 3d eyes (halves to give a mean look) Well, I do not want to bored you more, here is a link to my video: “100% Homemade Wooden Lures” I hope you like it. Please contact me through the Forum or my Channel, in case you have questions, recommendations or something to criticize… The first dozen of my homemade wooden lures

Hi, I know nothing about fishing. I found a bag of lures that were my grandpa's. There are 19 different lures. He used to fish in Ohio on Lake Eerie. My dad had them, now I have them. Are they worth anything? I don't fish often and would like to give them to someone who could make use of them! Below are some pictures of some of them. Thank you! Best Regards, Calvin

Hey folks, recently I've begun discovering that my capabilities as a lure manufacturer are being undermined by the speed at which I can make lures. a batch of five baits can take nearly an entire day, which in the broad scheme of things, is unacceptable. I was hoping some of you could provide me with some tips to speed up the process. one of the things I'm definitely curious about is a dipping base coat that could take some of the finnicky-ness out of base coating.

Hey guys, So I have this new glider that guys are going nuts for and ive switched to plastic and its pretty much ready to be produced in quantity. Unlike my previous models that were wood. I opted to go hard plastic so I can produce more to sell. My only problem is that painting is seriously kicking my butt. Im not quite sure what the issue is. I use plastic resin from a company called fabricast 50 from specialty resins. Now the main problem im assuming is the bonding. But it only really occurs on the back and belly of the bait. So thats no good when it comes to epoxying. It's almost like something is coming through the bait which I thought was some sort of contamination. But I use wax and grease remover prior to priming. Is it the spray bomb primer? Should I use a adhesive spray instead?

Lately ive been looking into some airbrushes, ive looked at the 100 dollar kits that come with compressors, paint, hose, etc but most of them have very unpleasant reviews, ranging from the product doesnt even work, to the product is not detailed enough, does anyone have any recommendations on a reletively cheap brush and compressor?

Was wondering what everybody's favorite craw soft plastic lure is. I would like to make a Plaster of Paris mold of a good craw. I have tried to mold a paca craw but had no luck due to the claws being to thin and not allowing enough plastic to fill them. Any replies would be appreciated.

I'm new to this site but I'm hoping someone here will have experience with this problem. First I want to say the folks here have posted some great information on tackle making and I've learned a lot in a short time...so thanks to all. Anyway, I have been experimenting with MCU as a finish coat on my hand painted hard plastic lures....with mixed results. The product is made by Graco and is recommended by some lure painters on other sites. The issue is the stuff seems to cause the paint to wrinkle on some lures. Two lures from the same batch with the same pattern may have totally different results when dipped. One perfect...one ruined??? I'm painting with Createx Airbrush Colors paint....nothing fancy...no special thinners...just a drop of distilled water when necessary. I dip the lure and hang it on a drying rack. The room is under AC so its about 76 -78 degrees. Can't figure it out but I sure am tired of ruining a pattern that I've worked hard to get right. Any of the veteran painters on this site have any wisdom to share on the subject of MCU clear coating? Thanks again, to everyone here for sharing some really good information.

Hey Guys, This is just an idea. Why don't we have a thread in the hard bait section Just for reference photos? I think it would be an awesome idea to have everyone on the forms post there own reference photos, including pictures you have taken of fish you have caught. I think it would be cool to have a bunch of different photos of different fish from different places. What do you guys think? Thanks, Brad

Yep as the title saids, "Rusty Baits" I'd encountered this when I was making one of my new baitfish mold lures which should of have been all white. And somehow there was rust from where one of the grub was on a hook that rusted from not been dryed off yet which made the hook n bait rust: The core of the bait was rusted. So when melting a batch of these used grubs to make these baitfish baits the first one turned into the colour I call, "crème orange" which created from all white grubs to a orange-fleshy baits instead. So when melting recycled baits make sure that all or any don't have a rusted center....If you want to see the pictures of this bizarre creation it's under the soft plastic gallery..... On a side note make sure that if you have recycled baits in a single bag take them out immediately (if it's not a single brand's color) or put them in a singular bags of each different type of brands' colours because for an example even a strike king watermelon will not be the same as a zoom watermelon... so separate them...

Hey guys I painted the front bait first and went to the neighbors pond to try it out. In about 30 minutes I caught 4 fish on it. First fish was a 6-7 lb Flathead Cat , followed by 3 LMBs in the 1-2 lb range . It was AWESOME I am definitely hooked on painting my own lures now. Since this color/pattern did so well first time out I am trying a couple different baits in this same color/pattern. Will be hitting the Arkansas River next week.
