I think there is a specific wire cutter for trimming the tag end after finishing a loop. Look at the photo, that’s a manufacturer’s end cut. I cannot get that close. Anyone know what that wire cutters name would be? Thank you for helping me out

Hello I`ve not done any crankbaits in ages so this was a challenge and it took avery long time to get them right. These have a very wounded type of action, spastic and unpredictable. Goes deep. Rattle inside. The fins are soft so they will bend when fish strike. Cheers from Jaraalbaits sweden -
Hi everyone! I have made lures for about 4 years now. Mainly Jerkbait gliders and Tailbaits for pikefishing but I never made any crankbait/wobblers. I want to learn how to make Crankbaits now cause I like trolling for pike :)! Here is my questions: How do I know how thick the radius of the lip should be compared to how thick the wood of the lure is? How do I know how near the front/head of the lure I should attach the lip? How long should the lip be? How sensitive is a crankbait for different weight positions? Is there some kind of formula for these moments as a starting point for a newbie or is it just trial and error (as usual) :)? Hey guys, So I have this new glider that guys are going nuts for and ive switched to plastic and its pretty much ready to be produced in quantity. Unlike my previous models that were wood. I opted to go hard plastic so I can produce more to sell. My only problem is that painting is seriously kicking my butt. Im not quite sure what the issue is. I use plastic resin from a company called fabricast 50 from specialty resins. Now the main problem im assuming is the bonding. But it only really occurs on the back and belly of the bait. So thats no good when it comes to epoxying. It's almost like something is coming through the bait which I thought was some sort of contamination. But I use wax and grease remover prior to priming. Is it the spray bomb primer? Should I use a adhesive spray instead?

So I've been making lures for about a year now and finally got arou to making a Muskie lure. It's based off of the large bulldawg and medusa style baits just with a slimmer profile. This is literally the first pour of my mold so it's still missing fins and I didn't put a harness in it. Let me know what you guys think!

So it's been awhile since I posted a thread on here but I've been reading most of them anyway...I kinda went into hibernation here in Minnesota over the winter. But now I got my hand on some nice Balsa and basswood and was thinking about making some grandma lures as well and working on perfecting my jerkbaits. But its the grandma's I am asking about I have the design from a few websites that we all know on here and have decided to use metal lips on them since the rivers here tend to destroy plastic. But what I am curious is has anyone made the smaller versions of these... it seems most fish in the ole mississippi prefer smaller baits even if there a large fish and the most common bait fish in the river is the chub. So I figured I would try to come up with a chub sized grandma and try foiling it and painting it and all that but just figured I would see if anyone had any input on ballast and any other odd ideas about the design of this lure from large ones to the smallest size. This is my second grandma lure I figured I shouldn't have one in the box that wasn't in vintage color scheme anyway... I truly am having allot of fun building these lure types they are easy to make and assemble... this one is 5 3/4" long and ended up with three ballast points to float nice... I am sure if I had bigger lead pieces it would have only taken two points no biggy thou... opener is almost here! -

To date, this is the biggest bait I have made yet. It is made from clear cedar and has holographic foil on the sides. It weighs 8 oz. and is 12" long. -
My first attempt at a creeper and it swims pretty good.
