Recommended Posts

Hey all,

Been buying tails from BPS when i get a chance to get there,Stamina, yadda yadda, usual spots.

In some cases, the tails are too stiff and some places dont seem to have the colors i want.

Out of the blue, who has a favorite place to get bucktail.

The Illinois River is going to be hoppin with sauger soon and i want to be ready......:)

If you've tried all the usual spots then I assume Barlows is one of them. It seems they have more colors available and since I only make hairjigs for the winter and early spring it's perfect. Maybe you could look into buying straight bucktails and dye your own colors, I don't know how much is involved with doing that but it may be another option.

... or ...

Funny story.

A buddy of mine carries around a set of tree clippers and a bag with borox and salt. When he see's a fresh roadkill deer on the side of the road, he stopps, clips off the tail, and sticks it into the bag. At home he cleans and tan's the hide.

One day an irrate woman pulled over and started yelling at his in-humain practice of lifting the tails off of dead deer.

His comment was "Lady, the deer doesn't need its tail anymore"
