Telescopic Spinning Rod?

Recommended Posts

I love my old 7'6" medium action flipping stick for crankbaiting, mostly for the length, and that my boat's rod box handles up to 7' rods. Being a telescopic, it easily fits. I was curious, has anyone made typical flipping sticks into spinning rods? I would love to have a couple medium and 1 medium light spinning rods for the wind i fished in today. Why haven't i ever seen one anywhere? Are they not possible to make? Any feedback is appreciated.:?

Sure you could make a spinning rod from a telescopic flippin' stick. That blank isn't smart enough to know the difference.

And it is possible to take a blank that you like for a particular application and find another blank section that would work for telescoping and basically build your own. While I've never actually done that, its just a matter of finding the right section of blank to build the handle on.

As to why you haven't seen one...simple...they aren't popular enough for rod companies to be building thousands of.
