powder colouring

Recommended Posts

does anyone use this stuff? i got a sample from MF and i gave it a go, probably alot harder to keep consitent colour wise... tried the neon blue, 1/8tsp w/blue flakes and it made a nice smokey blue colour i can't seem to duplicate using liquid colouring... and as luck would have it, i have been doing really well with this colour and i'm just about out of the powder...

wondering if anyone has used it and tried to match it to a colour they poured with liquid dye?

I have been using it alot since i got samples from M-F. 11 colors now. The stuff is fantastic andyou can't duplicate it with liquid or the neon powders. The combinations are endless and some powders give you different colors when mixed in dyed plastic. I put the neon brown in purple plastic and it looks like a copper penny color (brand new) inside the plastic. Also it tends to show up almost like a blood line if you use the right amount.

Jim from Ghost baits is using these powders also and should chime in as he has used more colors than I have.

i have not been able to duplicate the powders with liquids. with the powders you have to mix it for a while. i usally run my powder/liquid plastic in a mixer (lab/magnetic mixer) for at least 20 minutes before heating. mixing that long does not allow the powders to settle out in the plastic creating strings of light to dark colors. have you shot the brillant gold, it sure puts the hurt on the red fish here on the gulf coast

guess i'm gonna have to break down and order some

MF sent me the neon blue and the yellow/green neon, haven't tried the yellow/green yet... shipping is hard to take on small orders, but i am gonna order more blue and a few other colours... maybe that brown neon and iridescent pearl, wish they had a colour guide on their site.
