mike stanley
after the knife is pulled out you still have the hole like a tube, does the bait stay that way? if not how is the bait closed up??
Delw
The bait Stays that way, they won't close up. Now if you really have a tough bite the nice thing you can do with this type of Bait including the Basstrix one as it is made the same way is that you can add scents and or a little silver glitter into the tube section, The glitter thing is pretty cool as that way it looks likes scales coming off, I Don't use scents so I can't comment about that part of it other than it would hold them longer inside the tube than outside. GB GONE
Does water fill teh inside of the bait? Seems you have a hole in the back and a hole for a hook so it would be easy for water to displace the air inside the bait... Just curious... BassnRandy
I would think as long as the hole is not to huge it will work just like a tube and trap air by tension. The few I made on my first mold attempt were floating a 3/0 hook so I know they had to be trapping some air.
bojon
Great job Del.Should do the job,and fish well.
Delw
Don't forget this bait was designed to be fished with a leaded hook, gamy and a few others make them, the lead shank of the hook will be inside the hollow belly

squigster
Del, Are you going to sell the swimbait stick molds?
GB GONE
Hooksetweight flexibility and the float Hookset for sure, flexibility maybe but float I have to take a slight issue with as most are rigging them with a weighted hook!!!??? Can't float lead well. Maybe if the tube bait is rigged with a regular hook there will be a slight advantage. Both baits run well near the surface with just a slow retrieval speed. I have fished both types now and see no real advantage to the tube bait except the hookset. That being said, the fish really seem to eat these baits well and hooking the fish seems not to be a big deal so far. Plus the hook slot allows the bait to collapse well and the hook to be exposed quickly into the fish. Certainly there is a market for both styles and I see the tube style selling for upwards of $60/four baits so there must be something to them, right??!! captsully18
Delw, would you give some insight into the painting of these baits? (ie. type of paint, scale pattern, etc.) I am hung up on that. I do want to thank you for your directions for dipping, getting that down pretty good. Thanks David

bassnfool
The Basstrix is the hottest thing going right now, but if you want a neat swimbait, just take a paddle foot frog and split it down the middle and you'll have two swimbaits that fish quite well. Smallie
The funny thing about this is the guy pays $71.00 for the baits, goes to his tournament and doesn't catch any fish on it. And the search for the magic bait continues.................
nova
The tragedy of it is that there is no magic bait. Any bait will catch fish. You just have to have the confidence in the bait you are using and be in the right place at the right time. At least that is what I beleive. www.novalures.com
tubinator
OK, so how do you attach the aluminum tail part to the aluminum body part of the "mold"? I have the pieces cut out but can't get them to solder together, I tried staybrite w/flux and even some silver soldering (low temp. stuff) But I don't have experience with attaching 2 pieces of aluminum together. Do I use plastic steel or what? Thanx
