lilcraw Posted September 29, 2007 Report Share Posted September 29, 2007 Just started pouring some Darters and the guy at LC told me to get smoke color mix black and white lc colors using there 502 plastic, OK did it in Microwave worked great added there holo jewel string flake and also black flake the first poured biat was GREAT so I thought "I got it" I reheated my plastic and went to pouring and everything after that first one turned out watermelon of some shade, I would say it is the reheating is doing something, or the flake is changing it, I am BRAND new at this and just wanted to do some darters for my own use, I heated my plastic liquid to 250 and then poured, I know they say 300 but it was very runny at 250. help me please, just learning,,,,,, I sure need the smoke color ?????????? nova Posted September 29, 2007 Report Share Posted September 29, 2007 I think maybe you got it too hot and it scorched. When you scorch black it will take on a greenish hue. Try reheating at only 20 second bursts. The thing with micros is that it heats from the center outwards. Even after you take it out it is still heating. spungee Posted September 29, 2007 Report Share Posted September 29, 2007 I usually just heat plastic by itself and give it two or three drops of black to the clear heated plastic to get a good smoke color. I would think that adding the white would give it a more opaque gray color. I also have had white to turn colors on me when I over heat it. You will eventually get to the point where u can see how much plastic you have in the cup, see how hot it is by swishing it around, then make a precise judgment of how many seconds you can reheat it for!!
