tubinator
Can anyone help with these two color recipes? I'm going to be placing my first order for plastic, flake, and other supplies this week and would like to get started with these colors. Thanks
Tubeman
Those colours are really close, who makes them & what are the colour names/numbers ? Looks like Mizmos Erie Green. Probably will contain a mixture if green pumpkin and another shade of green...maybe a little black. Greens are fairly difficult to match exactly. tubinator
I was getting these tubes (colors) from crooked creek tackle, but he is getting out of the business, and they are no longer available. He calls tube1--Dark eerie green (#127sd) and tube2--Light eerie green (127sd). I noticed that GY has a new color called 44t, but it has char. and purple flake, he describes that plastic color as watermelon, it more resembles tube1. These colors are very good at the lakes that I fish, and since I can no longer purchase the tubes, and other styles of bait are not available in these colors, I would like to start making my own, but I have no idea what colors to buy. I was hoping that someone could point me in the right direction, or close to it.
bojon
If the guy making those tubes,in those colors ,is going out of buisness, then just get in touch with him and ask what colors he used.He may just give you the formula.Lure makers are a friendly bunch, but if he is hesitant then dont push it.The two colors are so similar that you might have trouble matching them even with help.I,for one, have trouble matching from pictures.Quite often my fishing partners want a special color, and only have a picture, they would be less than satisfied with my results, but when they gave me a sample the results improved. If you make your own attempt at these colors,be sure to mark down how much of each color you add to the plastic. wannabefishing
i pour a bit of erie green and i use: 4oz plastic 1/2oz salt 1 drop MF fl. chart. couple drops of lurecraft emerald green (depending on how much glitter you add- more glitter makes it lighter) .015 gold holo glitter (original calls for just plain gold glitter) I'm sure if you add more green/darker green/watermelon you'll come up with a close colour to that, so many ways to get this colour done... i also used to mizmo's big boy erie green to match, it's not nearly as light in colour as the website shows tho... give it a try it's an easy one to match
tubinator
Thanks guys, I'll try to get in touch with him, though it probably won't be very easy. How do you weigh out or measure the glitter? grams? teaspoons? Can you keep adding glitter and reheating until it's right or is it a one shot deal? These tubes seem to be heavily salted and glittered.
SwampBaits
U might start with some of Del's Watermelon Light. Looks close anyways.
Smallie
I measure the glitter with measuring spoons. 1/8 teaspoon, 1/4 teaspoon, 1/2 teaspoon etc. I bought stainless steel because the plastic ones seemed to build up static electricity and caused the glitter to stick to the spoon.
