Hey Jim, I never thought about the regional preferances to baits. Up here in Canada drop shotting and tubes are hot due to the exploding Goby population as well as natural Sculpin population in northern lakes where Gobys do not exist. I'm not going to over charge my customers with over inflated priced on these swimbaits, just a fair price for a high quality hand dipped bait. Thanks for the link Eugene.

The guys who fish lake Michigan I have bben talking to want a narrower swim bait to match the bait or a fat one to fish on the bottom that matches a goby. In land they want it wider verticle to match bluegills as we don't have many shad. So regional preferences will have a big impact on what you make.

I'm already there :) any I'll be making will be a slimmer design and I have a Goby done too...now to get'er in mass production mode.....

Thanks guys,

Joe, yes you dip it in clear plastic after you paint it. That brings it to life, It doesn't look like much till you get the clear plastic on it. No its not lure craft paint but i did get a shipment today of their paint. It was done with a MAC tools air brush which is just like the Iwata TR2 airbrush. I got a great deal on it.

Now for the paint, I have been using SEM "color Coat" for my black and Grey metallic colors. It comes in an aerosol can, I drain it into jars. This paint is flexible drys fast and sticks to soft plastic. you can get it in automotive stores. The Green is made with Clear laqure base paint mixed with Dels Black melon dye and thinned 3 to 1 with Lacquer thinner. The orange was made with Clear lacquer base paint mixed with Dels Yellow,Red & florescent orange Dye then thinned 3 to 1 with lacquer thinner "fast drying type".

The mixed paint doesn't stick real well so try not to touch the bait after you paint it. once you dip it in clear plastic, its sealed and you don't have to worry about it. You can get the Clear lacquer paint at hobby stores, they use it to paint plastic slot car bodies. Im still going to give LifeTone paint a try. They make alot of good colors.

you can find it at this link

Here is what i came up with, with the lure craft paint. I only had purple, black, pink and orange color to work with. I like the paint!!! Im going to get more colors.

I was just messing with the new paint I bought to try. It has a black back with purple sprayed over the top of the black and sides then a touch of pink down the sides also. Then orange and a bunch of HOLOGRAPHIC glitter in the belly. Do you like? Avj_KsN8Q70k8sfm8CirDf5AgKRZxZhrsjZMmmYKjS_G_hDwMRH6BOK-03EG-M8YAZtFf4SJOtxO2fJzFyzZLrgMXGonlSQFbAsime-kf2w
