bigyen
I was reading the recent threads on Swim Bait/Basstrix type baits and decided to try making them. Here are the results after a couple of hours in the shop. I haven
squigster
I have not made any of these myself, but he basstrix are more slender. I think the key to the bait is its tail and the hollow body Yours look like they would work but you wont know until you try them. If you can get your hand on a basstrix bait you will see what I mean. Some are going for big $ on eBay right now so you may have a hard time getting your hands on one unless you spend the bling.
squigster
As far as the rigging you use a weighted hook. Look at Mustad weighted hooks in bass pro shops. The hooks are weighted on the shank near the bend in the hook
bigyen
Thanks Squigster, do you hook the bait as if you were Texas riging it or do you have to work the hook in from the back of the bait?
willie525
those are cool, they would work really well hear when the fish are feeding on schooled up shad.

MDC
OK here goes a dumb question. I get the knife shape part of the bait, but how are you guys forming the tails? I don't fish swimbaits, but after seeing all of these, I might try playing around with them. Sorry for the hijack BTW I like your color effects
