Javelin
I bought a bucket of lead from a scrap dealer and 2 ingots had a manufacturer's label on them that said organic lead? Has anyone ever heard of it?
Vodkaman
I've just had a quick google, it seems that organic lead is lead combined with complex hydrocarbons and other nasties as an anti knocking agent for the petrolium industry. Most of the google results were about health and safety. Whether it is worse than regular lead, I don't know. But it isn't any better, that is for sure! I suggest you have a read yourself and make a decision.
LedHed
"organic lead" just doesn't sound right. I don't think I would use it........
SmokeyJ
"anti-knocking agent for the petroleum industry" = leaded gasoline, which I didn't think was produced anymore. Interesting.
Javelin
I called the manufacturer today, Vulcan (had a number on the label). They said it was 99.9 % pure. It had 'Doe Run' stamped on the ingots. http://www.doerun.com/whatwedo/refining.aspx
