borderbasser
I recently cut a mold on the mill for some mojo type weights for inserts in a swim bait. My problem is pulling the wire out after pouring. What is the trick for keeping the wire from getting stuck. It could be the wire i am using. It is just some fairly soft steel wire I have. What am I doing wrong? Thanks. TJ
BigTimeBuzzer
I use heavy stainless steel wire inserts in mine. I still have afew that stick from time to time but not many. But IMHO, the stiffer the wire you use the better off you are...I use the same size wire in my crankbait weights too..and it works fine for those..a hit or two with some very fine emory cloth will help with the sticking too.....that's my two cents
reeves
I watched a friend of mine pouring large egg sinkers that had a through hole in them. When he removed the wire after pouring one, he would take the wire and run back and forth on a bar of hand soap. I asked why he was doing that. The answer was of course to lubricate the rod and prevent it from sticking in the sinker. Just passing on an observation of anothers experience, try it and let us know if it was of help. dramone
when pouring lead i put talcum powder on the stainless steel "pin" before pouring. the pin should come out with a little effort...
JBlaze
I make 100 at a time I put the stainless wires in a plastic cup and spray them with silicone or white lithium grease by the time I get #100 molded the first ones are cool to the touch and ready to pull the wires out. I get a little smoke when molding but they slide right out with no effort
Tony Maxwell
I think they will pull better if you do it while the lead is still hot. Use leather gloves.
Steel Pulse
I just use PAM vegetable spray on the pins. Works great and smells good. Paul
