BassnRandy
I saw the thread on the plastic burn this week. While I sat in the hospital I got to thinking today about how common every day things we do alot make us complacent to safety. Now we all try to be safe but things we get used to we don't always take quite as serious. Today i chopped off a good portion of my left index finger because I got lax at my job. I make french fries and replace the blades in my cutter heads several times a day every day. Not paying attention to what I was doing fully like every day I took the meat off my finger and the nail down to the bone. SO BE SAFE OUT THERE! nothing is that important that we can't take a few extra minutes to insure we are not injured. Some injuries can't be avoided; but like mine most can. nova
Sorry about your hand. Some of the most dangerous jobs are repititious(spelling). A person gets lulled by it and we stop thinking ahead. www.novalures.com
earthworm77
Hope you feel better Randy. You are right about getting comfortable and then having accidents occur. Don't get complacent.

Smallie
A machine is a cold hearted, unforgiving device that will hurt you in an instant. Always respect what they can do to you. Good luck in your recovery - sounds like the removed material will grow back.
BassnRandy
WELL THEY TELL ME THAT tHE TISSUE THEY PUT BACK ON WILL MOST LIKELY NOT TAKE AS THERE IS SUCH POOR VASCULARITY IN FINGERS EVEN THOUGH THEY BLEED REAL BAD. bUT WITH TIME AND CAre I should be able to grow the magor portion back. They told me to plan on 8-9 months of scar tissue and most likely a loss of feeling in that portion of the finger. I could have plastic surgery but my fingers were never model material to begin with. As long as I can hold a fishing rod and pump a shotgun I will be ok. Thank god it wasn't my trigger finger.
GB GONE
Hang tough bud and protect that area from infection. As an Infection Control Practicioner, I can tell you the tough part now begins (believe it or not!!). A staph infection can really make things a whole lot worse so be safe and be clean!!!! Be a pefectionist when you change your dressings, just like the baits you make and all will be good!! Speedy recovery my friend!!!
