miketr20
I am having trouble with my airbrush clogging up when i use pearlized createx paint. Is there something i am doing wrong or something i am not doing?
hazmail
Maybe just thin it- or turn the air up a bit or both.Pete
philB
Hi Mike Pearlized paints do not like airbrushes I normaly shoot at around 15/20 psi or so but with pearls I have to up that to the 40psi mark along with dilution and wide open trigger. A suction cup airbrush would work better with pearls rather than the oh so popular gravity fed brushes. philB
clemmy
Also choose a brush with a larger tip if available, i.e. an Iwata BCS rather than the expensive Micron for glitter/pearls...
benton B
Back the needle out just a little and see if that helps.
JP MYERS
If you dont mind switching to an enamel base, the pearl enamels work sweet in airbrushes.. Never had any troubles.. I spray pearl enamels almost daily.. Testors also has a pearl white that I spray over my entire lures as a topcoat prior to epoxy.. Its called pearl white but is so transparent it can be sprayed to make a pearl effect over any non-pearl color..In this way all my colors are pearlized, even makes black look great..Just a thought.. Pearls are one of the great advantages of shooting enamels, and the method you mention of shooting various colors of pearls over standard enamel colors can actually create very unique custom colors and create colors that actually appear and fade depending upon how the light hits the bait. I also frequently shoot both enamels and acrylics over the same bait after clearing between coats with automotive clear. This allows you allows you the best of both worlds as far as colors and pearl choices.
