philB Posted October 22, 2007 Report Share Posted October 22, 2007 Hi Mike Pearlized paints do not like airbrushes I normaly shoot at around 15/20 psi or so but with pearls I have to up that to the 40psi mark along with dilution and wide open trigger. I spray pearl enamels almost daily.. Testors also has a pearl white that I spray over my entire lures as a topcoat prior to epoxy.. Its called pearl white but is so transparent it can be sprayed to make a pearl effect over any non-pearl color..In this way all my colors are pearlized, even makes black look great..Just a thought.. Pearls are one of the great advantages of shooting enamels, and the method you mention of shooting various colors of pearls over standard enamel colors can actually create very unique custom colors and create colors that actually appear and fade depending upon how the light hits the bait. I also frequently shoot both enamels and acrylics over the same bait after clearing between coats with automotive clear.
