feldermannLures
Having trouble w/ my POP molds chipping around the cavities....I make 2 piece molds out of POP, after the mold has hardened enough, i break the 2 pieces apart. Then i put the 2 halves in the oven at 400 degrees and bake them for ~2 hours. the problem im having is they dont last long, some only a couple of pours, the plaster starts cracking or chipping away around the cavities. I tried to epoxy around the edges, that helped some but not much. Any thoughts on what im doing wrong, or is that just he nature of the beast? I went and picked up some bondo last night and going to give that a try this weekend. Aaron.
bassn1
Go with the bondo. I can get 50 pours or more before it starts to break down. With a POP mold you run the risk of it exploding. Hot lead and any moisture in the POP is big trouble. Learned that one the hard way.
feldermannLures
Thats why i bake it in the oven for a few hours, gets all the moisture out, i also learned that the hard way I tried a mold of bondo, didnt come out real great, but not bad for the first time working w/ bondo...
