captsully18
Here are some tubes that I have gotten off my forms. At the top is a Basstrix that I used for size comparison only. These latest baits are dipped using Calhoun Tube Plastic, and this plastic has made a great difference. I would appreciate any feedback or suggestions y'all can give. Thanks
BassnG3
Baits look good, have you water tested them yet? Scott
longhorn
They look great...how do they swim compared the the Basstrix? Good job!
Tubeman
Looks nice, I think you'll find your tail is too thin and will fold back on retrieve.
alsworms
That's why I really respect you guys who are making these swim tubes. Not only do they look great, but y'all are figuring out a way to make them swim really well too. That was always a problem that I had when making swimbaits. 2 or 3 would swim great, and the next couple would roll in the water. Never could find any decent consistency. Ben J
Those Look Great, Hope They Swim.
captsully18
Haven't tried 'em on fish yet, but have tank and pool tested 'em and they swim just as well as the best. Have to wait couple more days to find out how the fish think they swim. Will get back with their answer. Tubeman, thanks for lookin' so closely. You are right, the tail is just a tad thinner than basstrix, but on the ones that I have water tested the tail has not folded up. I am hoping that the rest are consistant. Only time will tell. Appreciate your comments. You guys are greatest. This is how all of us are able to succeed. Thanks. David
Darkman
No Bs....Very Well Done simply WOW after you do you testing please let us all know how they did simply Beautiful
Tubeman
Great, mine did at first because the tail was too thin and the plastic was a tad soft. One thing I noticed is Calhoun (which I use exclusively for all my baits) is it's not the best in terms of staying clear after a couple of hours in the pot. I also have to use 4 dips (for one swimbait) as its fairly thick compared to Lurecraft or MF. You could easily do five layers with a thinner flowing plastisol, which would give more flexibilty to show your artistic merits.
captsully18
Finally got to try them out on fish and they said that they liked them, but wanted some different colors. Picky ain't they? Well, ok, I gots to make more. Thanks again guys for input. Couldn't have gotten this far without y'all. And tubeman, I have same problem with pot life (about 3-4 hrs.). whitey
Tubeman-are you adding any hardener to your Calhoun's? If so, how much?
Tubeman
No, just using the tube formula with a bit of softner. I'm waiting on my sample plastisol from MF, they tell me that their regular worm plastic is the ticket for these swimbaits...I'll let y'all know when I finish the testing. earthworm77
I'm officially in the game now. I've been using Ozark without and additives. I think it is what I'm looking for as far as hardness goes. I've been doing 4 dips, varying depending on my base color. I'm curious as to if any of the mold makers have made a mold for these. Anyway, the results I'm getting regarding cosmetic appearance are phenominal. These baits are really pretty and it is amazing something like that can be made in my garage. SwampBaits
I'll probably stay out of this game! But be sure to post some pictures of your finished baits. Lots of people are making some very nice swimmers! I'm waiting for someone to do a really.....really sick color, I need my mind blown! Keep up the good work guys. Tubeman
I'm thinking Fire Tiger or Citrus Shad will be one I'll attempt soon. Something for stained water or for the Walleye fisherman.
