stream stalker
snooterfish: They look pretty good to me. I know those jigs would fool smallies in my neck of the woods. Question for you: How are you doing the eyes on your jigheads? Thanks.
snooterfish
ops!!!! now thats a good question. i hate to get ready to tie on a fly and the hole has been painted over. what would be a good way to prevent this from happening when i paint them? stream stalker
No, I meant the painted eye on the side of the jighead?
JBlaze
First effort? very good. Put one or two back to compare with what you will be tying a year from now. You will be amazed at how much your skills will change. To keep the paint out of the hook eye, grip the hook eye with forceps which will keep most of the paint out of the eye. this also works with powder paint. BigTimeBuzzer
So is fishair the same as craft hair? all I have been able to find is craft fur and that stuff is no good to use BC, no they are not the same thing. Fishair is stiffer than craft hair and has a different texture. The place where I get all my craft hair from is punisherlures.com. He has several different colors and the prices are good for what you get. But the shipping is a little steep if you just order one or two colors, but if you get several colors at a time it's not to bad..

Pop
Years ago I bout craft hair at Walmart in the craft department. Don't know if they still sell it. I believe the original fnf was made on Aspirin head jigs, but; I notice they aren't used much anymore. Any reason for that? Pop

I dont know if they still do or not. As for the aspirin heads, I still use them on certain flys and the original fnf's were tied and still are tied on a aspirin head. They make a good fly but people got on the minno head and never looked back.
stream stalker
The first company to market fnf jigs was the bullet bait company out of TN. Charlie and Eddie Nuckols were the godfathers of the float n fly. They still make fnf jigs and theirs are on aspirin style heads.
