Bountiful Waters
I need some help from you "old timers". I made a mold that has two long thin appendages (pincers) that are about 6-7 inches long per side on a craw bait mimicking a freshwater prawn. No only are they a pain to pour, their durability is horrible. I left off these two pincers and replaced with rabbit hair threaded through the bait. Looks good.....but the rabbit hair made the bait float! If I added enough weight to sink it, it stood straight up and looks very un-natural. Any ideas? Del mentioned deer hair before, but I am not sure how to do this. I need something somewhat rigid like you would find on a crustacean. I am stumped. I have looked through all my supply mags, but just am against the wall on this. If you envision a Wave Worms Lobster Craw and replacing the normal claws with long pincers, you will have the general idea.

Delw
if you need something rigid get some broom whiskers( the things on the push brooms) your plastic needs to be cooler when you pour it so it doesnt melt, you will have to try it to see what works best. the cool thing about the broom stuff is it comes in all different stiffness's
basskat
You might try fiberguards used for jigs as well.
flabasspond
Hello! Just a thought....how about porcupine quills? LOTS of different sizes available on one piece. Very rigid and durable. I remember using these as mouse "whiskers" when I used to tie flies for a living. Outside of this how about marabou? Good luck...Dave
